Car failed mot on emissions (I had the 2 silencers cut out) turns out 1 was a cat?? Now car emissions are 0.32 instead of 0.20!! Does the car need 2 cats as I've never heard of this before and national tyres say laws changed last year saying if car came with 2 cats it has to have them for mot or it fails instantly!!!!

Also I'm in East Kilbride and need a exhaust system ASAP, any one know a garage in glasgow or surrounding areas that do stainless exhausts and mots? :(

on a 133 there are 2 silencers and only one cat on the mani so i highly doubt u got it chopped off i have no silencer's on my gt and still have a cat and my emissions were over 6 times what there meant to be. the tester said it was down to mapping and no silencer's

I struggled to get mine through on emissions, I think a few have on here. They really do need a good thrashing before the not I think

Mapped GT with no silencers and with cat, passed first pop but took it for good blast first :)

National tyres for an mot? Only thing worse than that is me having to take it to Arnold Clark haha

Unless you butchered the manifold, you didnt remove the cat.

Manifold with cat - front absorbtion silensor in front pipe - resonator silensor in middle section - absorbtion silensor in backbox

You took advice from national tyres who know nothing of a 133  fail.

Only one cat in the manifold and emissions were taken with a cold car, and good non money grabbing tester will allow it to warm up

Ffs lol I told them I'm sure it only has a cat in the manifold and they contacted renualt (so they say) and confirmed it had 2 cats so just booked it into simons custom exhausts for a manifold back ss exhaust with an additional sports cat as I thought that's what it needed.

It currently has manifold with cat and back box 2 silencers removed running super unleaded. I recon they tested from cold as car sat a while as I waited ages for a phone call. I hate garages!!!

On the basis they advised you they contacted Renault, it would be worth making a note of the facts and contacting VOSA.

So basically with manifold with built in cat and back box should be enough? I've googled exhaust and the rs only has 1 cat like everyone says. The 1.2 has a down pipe cat so they could of got mixed up? Is 0.32 a massive difference from 0.20?

Wack a load of injector cleaner in, give it a good thrash then take it mate, probably be all good then

A good warm up before hand (not just 10 minutes idling) - warm up then a little thrash using most of the revs.

If that doesn't get it past and its not been serviced for a while, replace the air filter or clean and re-oil it if you have a cleanable sports filter. oil/filter change and new plugs which will also let you check the coils for any rusty marks showing water has been dripping down

0.20% limit hehe... MX struggled to get through with a 3.5% limit!

No need to repeat what's been said about the cat but definitely have words with them regarding the so called contact of Renault. No Twingo has two cats.
