With Honda pulling out of F1 maybe its about time they produced a decent sports car for the road. Never been impressed with any of the recent Civic type R's. Liked the S2000 thought that was good fun but they haven't updated it. I have always said a turbo on the Civic would give it the edge.

Doesn't make a difference. If they were to change their rules to read that it were to make cars socially more acceptable, fair enough. but it focuses on the environmental aspect, and there is no case for a v12 if a straight 4 can't remain in that respect. And I understand there are more than them 2 considerations thank you very much.

The V12 meets Euro 5 regulations, the 4 cylinder doesn't. Why would Honda spend millions revising a very old engine to meet the regulations when their new car is only 12 months away from production which uses brand new, euro 6 compliant engines?

You won't see monster V12's when Euro 6 comes in, Euro 6 is very strict in comparison to the current regulations which is why every single commercial car manufacture is now using small capacity turbo engines.

I think you've misunderstood my point.

Please explain. I assumed your point is that the regulations don't make sense referring to environmental impact due to a 4 cylinder engine not meeting euro 5 regulations when a V12 can?

The V12 shoots out less pollutants into the atmosphere than the 4 cylinder Honda engine.

Looks like they're heading to the turbo route as well...

Instead of the previous 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, it will use a 2.0-litre turbo designed to comply with Euro V emissions regulations. A similar engine will feature in Honda’s 2012 British Touring Car Championship challenger.

Is this one of their amazing stories that are 'true' that actually aren't......

I reckon they'll drop the type r civic and go sensible. Type r crz would be better suited being more of a coupe...

Spotted on brit plates at brno airport yesterday

The rear is also very awkward. I'm not a fan! Note around the gearstick the missing panels...

Very Clio/Megane-esque on the front end....

Needs bigger alloys, but I quite like it.......
