 i bet it'll turn out to be a right belter after all this negativity. No one ever wants to accept change but it's gotta happen and it's gonna. Better to embrace it and see what comes of it. I can't see renault getting it too wrong

Ermm, no. Embracing a 5 door hot hatch when they have been making incredible 3 door hatches for years?

You just cannot get the same chassis rigidity with a 5 door, not to mention the extra weight and disastrous looks!

Tbh i thought the 200 look disastrous and ugly when that got released. so we shall see.

I loved it from the start but I know what you're saying. But we're not talking just looks though, we're talking fundamental engineering principles.

We'll just have to wait and see, it's not gonna be with us until 2013 at the earliest anyway!

I know, although i love the 200 now so , im sure it will be the same with the new Renaultsport Clio, it will be special as every RS has ever been. Handling will be good as ever im sure .

I think the loss of the 2.0 is not the thing to be worried about judging the pictures...
Serious: a turbocharged engine will be a good thing, even if it would be just a 1.6 turbo engine with at least 200 bhp (same power per liter as the Megane RS) as the currently heavy weight Clio could need a bit more torque... Maybe the car will be lighter too?
But no 3 door? Sad news Renault!

I prefer N/A's. That's why if I ever get the cash together a 197/200 is on the cards.

Again there's been more reports from AutoExpress that the next Clio RS will be 1.6T, with some spy shots of the standard model

The Clio 4 will use the same three-cylinder petrol engine as seen in the current Nissan Micra, as well as a 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel from the Scenic. The range topper will be the Renaultsport Clio, which will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo, eclipsing the current model’s 200bhp

Ah,I was wondering when that engine will come up. 1.2, 3pot + supercharger. I suppose they will be ditching the the 1.2tce then.

I'm hoping thy the rear doors on the Clio will be subtle and a bit hidden like some other cars.

That said, the current Clio is not much smaller than the Megane II so it might not look as naff as a five door MKI Clio!!! I'd still rather a 3 door though.

Like the idea of the 1.6 turbo though. More torque, easier to tun, better economy and easier to get more power. :)
