Hi Guys! Im Martin from Stirling in Scotland, im 23. Picking up a 57 plate Twingo GT tomorrow. Trading my 61 Plate Clio 200 in for it as 1. i need to start saving for a house deposit and 2. it was the most un reliable car ive ever owned!!

Going to be the lowest powered car ive ever had since i was 17 but im sure ill get on just fine with it! previously had 7 Clios before this, started off with a 1.2 16v dynamique, moved on to a PH2 172, started traveling with work and moved onto a DCi65 before replacing it with a 130hp DCi100, then tried a ph1 172 before again started traveling with work so went for a MK3 GT DCI106 before swapping it for the 200 :)

ill get some pics up tomorrow when i pick it up! its red. a bit girly

Welcome. The gts have lots of potential for modifications and im sure lots of people on here can help u and give advice if u start wanting more power.

Red isnt girly, best colour for a twingo!!

haha i like the RS in red the GT just looks a bit girly! gonna stick a set of coilovers and some decent wheels and spacers on it to give it a bit of stance before i start saving for a house lol!!!

ive promised myself not to chase power with it as it always ends up getting expensive lol

Lowest power? The gt has more power than a standard 1.2 16v clio...

I think you have made a great choice if I'm honest, with a few small and subtle mods you can get some decent power gains, you don't need to go all out with it. They are great fun to drive, they are rather nippy but also so economical... My gt is more economical than a standard, no idea how, maybe because the torque and not needing to gun it lol!

I won't bore you with too much more but any problems then gimme a shout, everyone here are great and helpful too.

Welcome also :)

Welcome to the club, how was the 200 so bad?

The twingo is abit feminine I agree but with what you want to do by stanching it that should sort most of that out!

How? Mine gets about the same and sometimes worse, that might just be because I make use of the extra power on country roads to work though.. Lol

Welcome, the GT is a good car (bias much) and as said, potential for some nice power increases for little outlay. 140BHP is easily reached

140 is a push... New injectors needed etc for 140... 130 is okay on standard injectors.

i had that when i was 17 though lol lowest powered car since then lol i did have a dci65 right enough but had a 172 at the same time too so was all good! :)

you will probably find the GT's can be more economical than the normal 1.2 16v as mentioned because you have the torque so you dont need to rev it as much but also turbo chargers are more efficient because they are making use of wasted energy to make more (free) power.

Clio 200 ended up in the dealership 15 times in the 9 months ive owned it, including getting a new engine after only 2 months/2k miles. then ever since arnold clark got their hands on it for that it fell apart piece by piece.

Well from talking to my friend she can get around 300 or so miles to tank.
I can get around 430 quite easily, with a mixture of driving...

£30 done me 316miles...

done a bit of tuning on a 1.2 tce clio for a guy i know and same brick wall of 130hp or there abouts on the injectors, to the eye however i recon 172/182 ones would make a possible upgrade path

Martin i have 182 injectors and rail on mine and that's the only way I have pushed to my figures

Not entirely sure on injector output Martin. The figures last time it was on te roads was 141bhp to 153 lb/ft

153lbft is not too shabby at all!!! ive never driven a modern small engine turbo petrol car, is it similar to a diesel with they torque figures where you can make decent progress with say 3000rpm gear changes or are you still having to rev it quite hard

Don't have to rev it hard at all. Just can't dump the power all at once or clutch slip... Don't have to rev it hard at all, the boost in mid revs is the best, I've gotta get boost controller set up cos boost dropping off at higher rpm. 3000rpm and foot to the floor you are flying... The torque is mad, 5th feels like 3rd easily

Do you drive in slippers? I've never gotten 300 miles from a tank let alone 430! What's your daily commute like?

Mines 13 miles with abit of town driving but mainly b roads.

I went from kent to Warwickshire, down to southampton, back up to Kent, over to se London... 1tank of fuel.
Bristol and back 316.8 miles on £30 still had 2 bars of Petrol when I got back and that's not with granny driving either...
