If you have tweeters in the dash, then it would probably sound better fitting component speakers, rather than just putting co-axials in the doors. Keeping the dash tweeters and adding another set in the doors could be a bit 'bright'

https://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-ts-q131c-renault.html would be a direct swap if you already have the dash tweeter wiring

the cars inbuilt crossover still dictates that most of the highs go to the dash tweet, the coax speakers fitted in the doors act mainly as woofers that way, i have some spl dynamics coax's in my front doors, and still sound spot on

I beleive the standard dash tweeters have a capacitor built into them (to filter our lower frequency), so no cross-over as such. Hence, co-axials in the door would be full range
+1 they do indeed

I went for Pioneer direct replacements in front. separate tweeter and mid and pioneer coaxials in the back.
It made a massive change to the pants speakers renault fit. Mine had no tweeters in the dash but pioneer tweeter made sound miles better and raised the sound up to ear level rather than at my feet.

I'm interested in this apline sub for under the seat, can anyone shed any light???

So I should get dash tweeters inserted? Would it be a big charge to get someone to fit them if I dOnt already have tweeters in the dash?

Just rang an audio company up, to got those pioneers fitted (2 teeters, 2 door speakers) he said £60, said it will include all crossovers, some soundproofing, set up and some other stuff I don't know.. He said if I tell him which speakers they are he might be able to get them for me on trade price.. So that proberbly going to be about £120-130 for that I guess, and the JLBs fitted are £80, but that's with the tweeters on the speaker, no in the dash.. Thoughts?

Maybe you should try and find somewhere that has some you could listen too, see if you prefer sounds from one rather than the other?

As for me... Its all about these babies...

Not feeling them, just want a crisp, clean sound, Not a sub or some in your face tweeters.. Wanna keep my headunit, and get some decent speakers fitted and the doors, and possible normal tweeters for the right price :) cant believe it's so complicated :(

Yeah, well now I've head help planning mine, all i need to do is find the right HU, and buy all the speakers.. so for what i want its about £700 without labour :(

**** that, so not worth it? £700 just to play loud music at good quality.. Spend £150 and it might not be as loud but it's still much better quality than standard I bet.. it's not like your gonna be the town portable radio is it :) if your throwing money like that at your car just buy a sport with the sound pack

tweeters, fronts, backs, sub, amp, hu and all the wiring. its perfect :-D all thanks to Craig (clio sxt) on toc.

Ill get the bits for birthday and christmas, not like theres anything else i want or need

Put it to saving up for a 133, spend it on an exhaust, get your roof lining done professionally, some new alloys, all those cost less than making music sound better quality, and you'll have something to show for it.. Just seems abit extreme when there's much more cost effective ways of making music quality better

To see if you have dash tweeters, or just fake inserts, get a torch and then get your head down next to the accelerator peddle and have a look. No need to remove anything :)
Here, you can see my fake plastic tweeter, without any wiring, as the Dini has co-axials in the doors :(

***some cars actualy have the fake tweeters, but actualy have the wires clipped into the connector***

If you have the wiring, then fitting the pioneers would only require popping the covers off the tweerers and undoing the bottom of the door trim, then unplugging and connecting the wires. Probably worth while having a go yourself

Yeah I figured it can't be too hard, plus it says it comes with a guide to fitting.. I've done everything else inside myself so mayaswell give it a go!

I wish I'd seen this about a week ago before I decided to have a look and snapped a bit of the tweeter cover

Just had a look and mine looks just like your one does.. So what would you suggest? Co-axials in the doors (I presume they are the ones with tweeter built in) £80 fitted, or the kit with separate tweeters? £120 fitted

I personally am happy with the outside ATM. I will get roof re lined soon, and then there is nothing else I want to do more than the sounds - it is where I spend all the time :p

That depends on which JBL units you have been quoted for... The Pioneer units are more expensive, but you can pick them up for £70ish, which can easily handle the standard headunit, although their main appeal is being completely plug and play if the wiring was correct. Also, higher frequencies are more directional, so having the tweeters at ear level should give better results, hence why components are usualy better, besides each unit having less compromises in the design

fitting the door units (only requires a thin screwdriver, T20 and T30 torques bit). Shouldn't be more than 15mins per side. If going for after market, then getting a pair of cable adaptors will save any cutting of the loom>>

remove the 4 screws around the edge of the door

Pull the lower edge of the door card and the clips will pop free, to give a reasonable amount of room without disconnecting the handle or window cable

Two screws will have the speaker seperated from the mounting adaptor, then simply unclip the cable and install the new unit (using the cable adaptor if not using the pioneers)

With access to the back of the dash tweeter on the drivers side, above the accelerator peddle, they are dead easy to remove by pushing against the tabs and this pops out. The passenger side is hidden by a shed load of wiring, so best to use a tool to prize it up from it's clips

Without any wiring present, components tweeters would need a new cable installing, either down to the door speaker, or to the rear of the stereo

Right so I can easily do the door ones, but not sure how I would go about wiring the tweeters myself unless you have a guide for that too?
