I remeber it at 69.9p i think

When I passed my test it was about £1.68 per GALLON. They didn't even price it in Litres in those days but that'd be about 37p a litre.

I had a Citroen GS (ask your Dad if you don't know...) and it cost about a tenner to fill it up once a fortnight.

And when I was a kid, my Dad used to put 4 gallons of 4 star into his Anglia and give me the change from £1. It was only about fourpence, but that worked out at about 4/11 per gallon (24½p in today's money), or less than 6p per litre.

And before some cheeky b*stard asks, no it wasn't before the War :!:

I think we have come to a conculsion fuel prices are rediculous !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something needs to be done. But i dont know what hmmmm.......

we need to get some petrol heads to take over the world. that will sort it out.

The country can't afford for refineries to be blocked etc. The economy is fcuked as it so by blocking fuel supplies and bringing the country to a stand still will just cost the economy even more. Something the country just cant afford right now!

This country is just a joke at the moment, its a right mess!

My first tank was 71p a litre, im only 22..... IMO there are several options - VAT should either be removed altogether for a period or the VAT should only be applied to the cost of the petrol, not the cost of the petrol and the tax. Or introduce a single fuel duty rather than have 2 separate taxes. Or even reduce the import taxes on oil goods so the wholesale price becomes a bit cheaper.
