Anyone else noticed ridiculous queues at petrol stations today? The petrol station I normally stop at for a drink and snack at lunchtime had no fuel at all and the next closest one had people causing traffic jams because they couldn't get onto the forecourt.

Having got back to work I looked up on the BBC news website to see that apparently the government has advised that people fill up in preperation for the strike. A statement which they've now retracted because of the stupid queues.

Oh dear... I've got a couple bars which will just about see me through to the start of the weekend. I'm not going to rush out and brim my tank though :/

Opinions?

Think people are being rather silly and panic buying. Even if the one days strike does go ahead, it can't be for at least 7 days yet, so current fuel stocks will have been replaced by then anyway. Then it'll probably only be for one day, which would just slow down the odd forecourt or two if people just acted normally.

i think i heard that the strike was meant to be on the easter weekend? not 100% sure.

Filled up this am to be on the safe side though, garage was empty. Hit the station early if you need a top up and you will be fine mate.

I need fuel anyway. This is stupid I should have to either queue or go without because people 'aren't panicking'

Don't believe any strike dates have been officially set yet.

Apparently the extra fuel sales from the 'panic buying' are worth approx £32m extra in petrol duty

Anyone else think its a government plan, up the fuel by 2p, set some panic in and watch the ££££££ stack, then drop it to normal and say 'we resolved the dispute' haha!

I never panicked this am, just needed petrol or i would have conked on the 25 lol.

Yeah that's my situation now. I don't fill up I'll run out. I'm not gonna fill up once the first bar goes. But I can't get there because of the people doing just that!

Ridiculous really, im at work and customers are coming in tlaking about all the stations that are closed with no fuel.
No strike dates are set yet, and im pretty sure they have to give 7 days notice before a date is set anyhow.
Im not worried at all and im sitting with one bar at the moment.
Deliveries are still coming in and theres no shortage.
People need to get a grip and act sensibly rather than acting like children squabbling over the jast Jaff Cake.
People are actually filling jerry cans to take home incase.
Bet the government are loving this.
Maybe there will be a shortage on beer and **** next week. Just in time for the ridiculous increase too!
I pay £6.50 for a 20 pack of L&B Menthols normally. Im told WHSmiths want £8.20 CRAZY!!! Going to Spar to top up after work, will see how bad it is.

Where i live all the stations are empty! Also causes a pain cuz they are queuing onto the road so took twice as long to get home!
Iv got 3 bars which will last me hopefully till Monday. Let's hope they get deliveries by then. There's so many idiots out there, they are causing havoc for us people that actually need fuel!!

Stations are empty around me too.

My cars sat outside the house on empty, not enough fuel to go searching.

Walking is fun! Reckon I'll be car less for the weekend!

I've got two bars left :/ I know that the queues are stupidly long for the 7 petrol stations in a 8 mile radius.

There's only a shortage now because people are panicking. That means people are causing the fuel shortage as there's only so much fuel in the system at one time. Now people are refilling at 50% when they used to fill up at 10%. That's why you should never panic buy

I'm almost on the red light but the petrol stations are majorly packed around here... I'll risk it if there's a strike out come the old cycling gear!

just filled up at my local garage, all the other garages around me have totally run out of diesel, some are closed completely. I saw one bloke with a mercedes E class filling SEVEN!!!! jerry cans, greedy merc owner!

We had mental ones in the petrol station across from the dealer today. I dont need to worry about fuel though as my push bike doenst use it ;)

But i have a service on monday so fingers crossed ill be ok.

So I just failed to buy fuel. Didn't bother queuing, people just playing silly buggers

I'm going at midnight to see if I'm any luckier

7am Peaple blocking a road in woking awaiting to get fuel and same out side work in Weybridge.

Really people need to get a life!

I've not headed out since all this has started so not seen any of this apart from on the news

i have over half a tank of diesel, that will last me like 350 miles so not too fussed right now.
