Hi,

I'm a newbie here so be gentle!!

I recently bought my RS 133 and the previous owner had already upgraded the door speakers to the pioneer TS-Q131c woofers. He has, however not put in the tweeters.

I've checked and I have the dummy tweeters that so many people are mentioning on here with no wiring.

My questions, therefore, are;

- Do the tweeters have a built in crossover?
- Should I buy a crossover to install?
- How do I wire them in? If I buy a crossover can I cut the speaker wire from the HU for the input and then connect it to the woofer output for the door and run a new cable to the tweeter?
- Will it sound better with tweeters as it currently sounds a bit rubbish!!

Basically I want to know the best way of wiring them in and don't want to blow my tweeters (I'm hoping to get them off the previous owner as he may still have them) if there is no crossover included.

All help appreciated

Iirc they have crossovers built in if you manage to find the pioneer ones

Easy to install and you could take it from the back f the stereo as there's an put for it.

As for quality, yea. Huge. You'll have no treble at the moment which will sound terrible!

You'll need something to add some depth afterwards and fill the bass out too

Cool,

I'll keep my fingers crossed he still has them then....

As for taking the wires from the head unit, how do I get to it? Its the newer (rounded bottom) type and no obvious way to remove.

As for filling out the bass, could I do that by changing the rear speakers to a specific type? I'm keen on a good sound but don't want to take up space with an amp and a subwoofer.

Been reading about under seat powered subwoofers. Anyone fitted one fitted one and if so how fiddly is it?

I have one. With them speakers too. Same as Karl and plenty of others before us. I find the right passive sub is rather good in a nice subtle and modest set up. If like me you're not after loosing brain cells (heavy bass = loss of brain cells and is a proven fact ;))

Or happy female passengers ;) Maggi122 what sub do you have under your seats?

What speakers do you have at the rear and which sub under the seat? Any pics? How do I get to the back of the head unit to connect wiring for tweeters? There seems to be no conventional way of removing it.

Haha caz hasn't complained but it really isn't all that powerful. Certainly fills the bass without ripping your organs through your chest.

If its the same as mine, the stereo just removes with the fascia, I spent an hour trying to remove it with the keys which was pointless as they went nowhere  bloody Renault!

I have them speakers, pioneer tswx11a passive sub and pioneer ts1302i coaxials in the rear with an alpine Ida x305. The headunit makes it for me!

It was really easy to wire, I didn't have any wiring present in mine so had to do it from scratch also

Well the good news is the previous owner has the tweeters and has said I can go collect them tomorrow. He hasn't mentioned any exchange of ££ so hopefully they are free!!

I'm off work tomorrow so, weather permitting, I'll have a play and try and wore them in.

Do I need to know anything before attempting it? Do I need special cable, connectors, tools or a radio code?

Thanks for all your help so far

Don't break the grill which covers the tweeter. Karl posted recently that they were £40+

OK, so I now have them...for free - whoop whoop.......now as I don;t have the cabling whats the best way to fit them? Buy some connectors like there would be on the loom (that I don't have and don't know where to get) or fit some spade connectors?

HELP!!!

Really confused....where do I connect new wires to go to tweeters? I can't find any wiring diagram that shows which wire is which speaker.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but is it difficult to install tweeter wires? I have dummy tweeters and no wires.

If I were to buy a TS-Q131C set, are crossovers included?
Can I run wires from tweeters to door speakers? Is this the easiest route, or do I go to the headunit?
Do I need to splice any cables?

Thanks for any advice.

Wires are easy to install as they dash is easily accessible. I ran mine from the headunit to save going through the rubber gromit into the door but wither was is the same.

The speakers have built in crossovers

Thanks, what do you connect to at the headunit end then? Splice into the current harness?
