hi I am test driving then most likely getting a twingo gt on Friday or Monday depends on when it arrives.
The car is orange. 30399 miles on a 58 plate.

is there anything I should look out for.

And as I've never driven one. What they like to drive

thanks steve

hello steve, welcome to the club!

twingo gt's are fantastic little cars in just about every way possible. 100bhp means it's a dam site faster on it's toes than any other 1.2 car out there, and having a turbo means that you can remap it (one has gone upto over 200 bhp, i know right!? mental). they are very reliable too, the TCe engine is fantastic. really sturdy, never skips a beat. the car is also cheap to buy and maintain, holds it's value really well!

very easy to modify so that the car ends up exactly how you want it, looks and performance wise.

look out for brown residue around the spark plug leads, this usually indicates the scuttle panel is leaking. that was just about the only known fault with the GT! i've owned my GT for 3 years and the only things to have gone wrong with it was a wheel bearing and a stuck spark plug, my fault and not the cars fault!!! can't say fairer than that

Hi Steve, welcome.

Recently bought a GT meself... no point in asking these Hoodlums what they're like to drive, they're all used to warp-drive levels of bhp... :)

What have you driven previously ?

Cheers oscar ill look out for the scuttle panel issue. is that really the only common problems with them. see I'm a bit sceptical on the whole french car thing but I might of just bought 2 ringers ( saxo,106 ).

I'll start from the start sandy

classic mini
1.4 escorts
1.5 106
1.4 corsa Sri
1.6 corsa sport
1.4 rover 25
micra Sr 1.3
1.0 micra
1.2 corsa
1.0 micra
1.4 micra sport
saxo furio 1.4
1.0l polo
1.4 micra sport
1.0 micra
1.2 punto sporting
micra Sr 1.3
corsa 1.0
micra sport 1.4
honda accord 1.8
seat arosa 1.0 (current )

all them in the space of 5 year. Not crashed any just always changing. One of the main reasons I'm keen to tie myself down to a car aswell cause I'm sick of losing money on cars

You going to sort me finance mate? 100 a month. when can I view? hah

Nissan engine, nothing like the crap you'd get in a saxo or 106, seen many of those go pop !

swap for seat arosa then haha 1.0 proper slow?

The twingo has a Nissan engine?

luke i think you've got confused with the DCi diesel engine, it was co-developed by nissan / renault who are now both basically the same company .. just not officially :) the DCi twingo 1,5 was only available in the european market if i recall? don't take my word for that though. i know i've never worked on one so that's my reasoning for the above guess lol

oscar you seem to have a lot of knowledge on twingo I know who ill be asking future questions too

*sigh* :( okay steve ... seeing as though i'm a nice guy and all that lol. there are plenty of folk on here who know their way around these cars, any knowledge i've contributed is only part of an even bigger knowledge base that is twingo133.net :D

You're too modest Dave... :)

That's a hell of a list Steve so you're better qualified to make driving comparisons than me. Suffice to say, for me the GT accelerates fast enough to be fun without tearing your hair off, corners VERY well with little under-steer, is cheap to tax and insure and (when i'm not driving it like an 8 yr-old on his first bumper-car ride) returns high 40's in MPG.

Timing belts are due at six years or 72k. So, a 2008 motor will be due soon if not already, so worth checking its been done or get it done before hand.

I'll ask them on Monday cheers.

picking a set of ats cups 15" with knackered tyres on tomorrow. £100 pound mint condition. I've started already only thing is can't decide weather to void my warring or not I've got it for 2 years. advice people?

your wheels don't void any warranty, also those wheels won't fit. they are 57,1 mm centre bore. renault centre bore is 60,1 mm. physically won't fit!

That's annoying but hanks for the heads up. Now the dilemma is they look mint condition. do I buy them as I think £100 is cheap and try get a swap for clio sport alloys . as I know the ats cups go on the clio. 98% positive anyway hmmmmmm
