Ran someone over

I ran someone over today on my bus I'm still In shock in the 9 years I've been doin this job I've never done this before. I was drivin down a busy road when I spotted a teenager bouncying a basket ball he missed it and the ball went in the road then I hit him doin 30mph. He was takin to kings collage hospital in a life treating way. The police detained me for 4 hours until they got the call from the hospital to say he has a broken pelvis. Really can't believe what's happened today 18 he is

I'm very sorry to hear this Daz,

It's so easy to blame yourself but please don't.
You were driving to the speed limit, and he shouldn't have come out into the road infront of you.

The main thing is he is alive and will make a full recovery, broken bones heal.

It may take a while for the full shock of it all to come out but just incase you feel like you can't speak to anyone i know i can speak for myself and many others on here when i say that we are all here for you and are more than happy to listen to anything you may wanna talk about etc and we will support you 100%

Hope you're ok mate, try and take it easy, remember.. he is alive and ok, you did nothing wrong.

Indeed. They say to expect the unexpected when driving. However, if that was really the case, you would never be able to drive anywhere, expecting something to happen.

Realy unfortunate for you to be in the wrong place when it sounds like he had a moment of stupidity and went after something as trivial as a ball I guess your onboard cameras and tacho etc will show your side of the story.

Hopefully you will come to terms with it and, he will make a recovery too.

I know accidents happen but could u imagine havin a packed bus the hittin someone at 30mph. The thing that sticks in my mind the worse is the sound of a 5 year old scream and the noise that the boy mad hittin the bus

Yikes mate sorry to hear that, truly horrifying stuff but don't blame yourself. My dad is a train driver and in the 28 years in the railway it's happened to him 3 times, not a nice experience but it happens nonetheless. Hope you're not too affected by it.
