I've been given the opportunity to have a rollcage made up for me.

Four point, bolt in one with entirely no modifications to the car itself and completely reversible.

Do I do it?

Surprised no ones asked about cost....

What would you pay?

Well I've contacted them again and suggested nicely that the price is a little too much, especially considering they'd probably use my car as a template.

Depending on configuration between £1300 - 1800. Plus VAT.

As I was saying to Matt, it started as an off the cuff remark when commenting about someone elses 'cage and saying "fancy building me one".

**** me do they want you arms and legs aswell as your cash for that price?

I hope its gold plated!!!!!

That's proper expensive !!!!

It's bolt in with no modifications to your car. Going elsewhere would probably not be that much cheaper.

Ktec etc offer cheaper bolt in ones but they are essentially mass produced.

Don't know have you contacted OMP or anyone?

And wouldn't be sure about if ktec did one ad you seen already some products they make can be shocking !!!!

Come round mine I'm sure I have some scaffolding somewhere ;)

The price for the product isn't bad in comparison to other custom cages, but everyone was hoping it'd be a fair chunk cheaper than that... I thought it'd be half that price personally. :(

Where did you get the idea that this is 'proper expensive'? :p

Funny you mention scaffolding... I once used a bit to make a straight through exhaust with no boxes on my 1.2 :p Safe to say I cut it off the next day and welded a new box in! (offtopic, sorry)

£1300 TO 1800 FOR A FECKING 4 POINT!!!!!!
FECKING STROLL ON! You're looking at £1.3k + Vat for a Sparco, full FIA, Evo X, 10 Point cage from Demon Thief's!

I'd be going international for that kinda money, no point half arsing it with a 4 point! Minimum of 6, even then it'd be cross braced to hell.

Exactly what I said, you wouldn't want to fork out that and be left with a half cage, you'd want the full works. BUT it wouldn't really be much cheaper :(

Don't get me wrong it is loads, but that is fitted and finished and not as simple as you could initially think.

Of course you can buy one from DT, but chances are it's a weld in job (a fair cost to fit) and non-reversible. Weld in ones are far less work to make; all they require is 6 points to the floorplan and then an end block where as a bolt in needs to be designed and built around the existing holes in the car. Think about it....

I inquired with Custom Cages a while back, was going to be £1400+vat for a weld in 6-point.

Ktec don't make one for the 133, I was referencing the cheaply produced Clio ones.

   how much ..............

id ring custom cages and see how much they would charge u for one, that way u really can choose what u want bolt, weld, bars etc
plus u can get a "proper" cage with certs if u want/need
