Edit:-
Description

For sale Renault Twingo RS Gordini prepared by Ktech Racing. 163BHP

Fitted with Ktech Racing tubular exhaust manifold, full 2.5-inch sports exhaust system, set of Cat Cams stage one high-lift camshafts, ECU re-mapped, delivering 163bhp. These modifications costed £2625. Have a look on Ktech website or EVO article.

Faster than a Fiat 500 Abarth!

I want it!

Rear diffuser and all.. Apart from that hideous exhaust

It looks like James-Hiltons old car which was No 559 and its in Aberdeen so highly likely. It had white wheels, stickers and the old style Ktec cat back exhaust and a decatted manifold.

The interim owner may have done the cams and changed the manifold, but it didn't have them when James owned it. He has done the exhaust on his new 133 at a very early stage and just recently done the cams ;)

Hi Foxtrot. I own the Twingo133.net forum and a member has asked about your car. I know it( if its gordini 559) previously had the Ktec 2.0" catback exhaust and a decatted manifold, with a remap. The exhaust tailpipe still looks like the older style tip which could mean its not got the replacement tubular manifold and 2.5" system So, I'm wondering if it has the 163hp package fitted. Do you have receipts for the cam replacement work and could you get a picture of the manifold?

I just find the add a bit suspicious, nice looking car but my thoughts are exactly what you've written above

I dont think its intentional, but I think theres been a mis-understanding on the spec of the car when it was sold onto the current owner. I may have spoiled someones weekend :(

James has just confirmed it didn't have cams fitted ;)

Yes that is my old car. I p/x it with Evans Halshaw in Aberdeen August 2012 for 8K.

When I sold it it had 24,000 miles, HR springs, KTR Twingo Rs Exhaust System (the old one for £300 not manifold etc), map and a KTR fanel filter, rear diffuser, white powder coated 17's and all those stickers. It produced 130bhp. I still have the graphs. That car does not look like it's changed AT ALL!

Oh and the exhaust in the picture is the same one I fitted.

One last thing. As it states in the add that it's faster than an Abarth 500. This is not true. I tried. :L

I dont think its intentional, but wrong none the less

Hi Neil,I was not aware of this website existence but it's really good to know.

You are right, it's the Gordini #559. You seem more aware than me on my car :) ... I bought it at Evan Halshaw Renault dealer in Aberdeen like that and they argued me that the car was prepared by Ktech Racing but I didn't receive any receipts. But there is no doubt than the car was prepared regarding its performance. So I went on Ktech website to determine which kind of preparation was done and I found an article on the preparation 2.5.
I was not aware of the previous preparation. I didn't change anything on the car. So the car seems to be fitted with the 2.0 kit based on your comments.

Hi Elliot.
I know James has fitted cams to his current car but I'm pretty sure that he didn't get them fitted to the Gordini. Likewise the exhaust manifold being replaced with the KTR replacement one (ive just texted him to confirm).

The car had been down to K-tec but I don't think it had a second trip to get cams etc..." I took mine to K-TEC late 2010 and got a decat exhaust, K and N Apollo kit and a remap and the print out gave me 135 bhp. I think before the remap it was around 125"

I only know of three cars with the stage one cams and mine with the original stage two cams.
Neil.

Hi Neil,
Alright, Thanks for this information. It would be handy to have the confirmation, instead of dismantle the car XD.
To be honest, I didn't catch what did you say regarding the power because the origin power is 133bhp so how did you obtain less with the Ktech kit ?
Cheers,Eliott

Dear foxtrot3435,
I've messaged James, who used to own it and got this reply..." It only had HR springs, remap, KTR panel filter and the old Ktr exhaust when I sold it. the grarage removed the Map though"

Sorry if thats spoiled your weekend :(

Originaly they are meant to be 133PS, but mostly they make 123-128Hp. Remapped with a replacement filter and exhaust, they generally make around 133-135hp. With cams, complete exhaust and cylinder head work, mines over 165Hp

I just messaged him as well. I think between the two of us we have seriously ruined his weekend. My new car has cams etc. Not that one.

What's the reason you traded in? Did you just want a facelift model?

How come they removed the map? I don't think it has been mis-sold to him. I think he's just not put the pieces of the puzzle together correctly (or he's trying to make the car sound better than it is)

i think the confusing part is that such a large dealership sold what they claim to be a full on modified car, and back it up under warranty. if the ktec cams were to ruin the engine, it would be a very interesting warranty claim back at evans halshaw don't you guys think?

The Dini was an ex demo with 5k on it when I bought it so I got a really good deal with it. When the facelift came out I then got offered another really good deal with the 4+ package that Renault do. Couldn't say no and I love the 133!

When I gave it to the garage I sold it with all the receipts and paperwork so as far as I'm aware they knew exactly what was on it. They also told me that they'd have to remove the map meaning this car in it's current state probably has around 120-125bhp.

I just got this response on eBay:

Hi James,

Alright, I was not aware of what have been done on the car previously and the garage sold it to me arguing that the car had 163bhp ... The garage didn't remove the remap. They asked me if I would like to remove it or to keep it and I keep it.

So if I well understood, it was just a "light" upgrade and not the full kit ? But you're right I didn't change anything.

Thanks for your advises

Best Regards,

Eliott

Actually, James picked up his new car and traded the Dini' in August 2012.

The cams were only first fitted in mid January 2013 and were still being finalised for a while afterwards and weren't availlable anytime before the start of May. Its only recently that Ktec have put the cams on their website (not sure exactly when) and, the Piston Heads review was posted on 11th September and the Evo article was hitting the shelves arround the same point.

I don't think it adds up :?
