I'm not in a major panic, as realisticaly it was going to be a couple of months before any significant progress, as Andy had several projects already on the go or scheduled in before mine was dumped on him.

I emailed for a quick progress update the other day but haven't heard back (theres a few away on holiday this week). Thinking today was Thursday  I didn't bother chasing it up today. 7 day weeks of 6pm-6am nightshifts :(

lol. Just found out that today is actualy Thursday, not Friday like I had started thinking :? A couple of people said it was Friday and it felt right

Maybe I'll chase it up tomorrow if I can manage to stay up after shift

The joys of being a North Sea tiger on nights that is!

Why you're on the port star wages buddy!
 Its more like North Sea puddy cats nowadays.

Looking like another whole grueling shift of bubble watch, just like last night. Its going to be a long night

We have moved the cam timing a few times now and it now idles and runs far better

We have still achieved 175bhp and 148 lb ft torque

I am now testing various calibrations to get it to run better lower down the rev range.

Our plan is to get this finalised as best we can and then you to have the car back until we have the GEN90 ready for Twingo use, we will use our own one for this as this then does not leave you without the car for much longer.

As soon as I am happy with the way the car drives I will let you know
I dred to think how many versions of the map Andy will have tried by the time hes happy (if he will ever be truly happy). It was v12 by the end of the first day

So, I could have it back soon if I want but I'm still not in a rush

Gees I can see valves being changed at this rate!! 175 before standalone ..

The stage two cams for the 197/200 takes 4degree retard on the exhaust cam, which after lots of testing was eventualy found to be the ideal point for them... I think the setting slot is now ground with the 4 degree offset built in (not 100%) :?

As a new untested profile, any idle problems from larger inlet /exhaust valve opening overlap were not known. To reduce the overlap, retarding the exhaust cam a bit should help... Obviously theres a risk of going too far and getting valve to piston contact if your not carefull and they will still need to allow for some working clearance. Hence they were adjusted bit by bit untill the point where the idle was usable (if not perfect), without affecting the peak power or causing piston/valve contact .

Explain both posts there please didn't understand at all bud lmao!

I've just edited my explanation above, about swinging the cam to reduce the overlap which improves the idle. Hopefully thats a bit clearer now

1 Brake Horse Power would probably be me still logged in on Karens laptop and a subtle reference to a certain donkey needing its saddle repairing :?

WOW!!!

Seriously, respect for you cab bud, looks wicked!!!! Can see a lot of effort and time put into this project...you thinking of adding boost at all?

Bad thing about adding boost(if super charger) the cam pully isn't keyed so could cause some damage

If I was going to boost it (which I'm not), the bottom end would need some work for stronger rods etc, so the crank could be keyed then. An alternative would be to drill and pin the pulley and crank like the mod which is usualy done on LS2 engines

oooook, what's the maximum power that can be achieved out of these motors?

Software with the stock 4-1 branch, what sort of gain could one see?

The more relevant question (for the first part) is how much money you have.

With a simple remap its gonna be no more than a couple of horses. It would be more drivable though

Yeah, the $$$ is obviously a big factor...

Thanks for the info, *un-hijack*
