What's the best thing you've found to keep the exhaust shiny? Just noticed today how dull it's become :(

Polish it with autosol and a cloth mate. If it's in a really bad way, wire wool/autosol might be required but that probably won't be necessary.

before cleaning i wack down some wd40 to sit for a while, helps with less scrubbing

An example on a Porsche Carrera S I recently detailed:

Autosol is meant to be very good as Monster says although I've not used it.

I have cleaned up an equally manky looking exhaust on my old Lupo with Autoglym Metal Polish, also the Meguiars NXT metal polish is good. :)

It's amazing what you can achieve on a car with the right gear and some hard work.

Some of the transformations I've seen on cars, simply from detailing is amazing. A car that you'd look at as a lost cause in terms of cleanness can be turned round.

Thanks for the responses guys. It's only 4 months old so shouldn't be too bad. I'll give the autosol a go after seeing Matt's results!! Nice work :)

A relatively new exhaust won't take much effort to get looking like new with some metal polish.

When I polished my Lupos exhaust it was almost black where it had been overfuelling but still came up gleaming. That had probably been at least 18 months without being touched. lol

What do you mean by overfuelling mate?

I use #00 wire wool and some SRP come up agonise then new haha

Wire wool shouldn't be necessary and I wouldn't advise using it, unless it is. Especially with a product that is not designed for polishing metal (SRP). It's far better to use Autosol, or similar, and the exhaust will come up perfect!

I don't need some one to tell me how to detail my car thanks ....

I'm not telling you how to detail your car, I'm trying to help others (after all, this is a thread where someone has asked for help).
