I use #00 wire wool and some SRP come up agonise then new haha

Wire wool shouldn't be necessary and I wouldn't advise using it, unless it is. Especially with a product that is not designed for polishing metal (SRP). It's far better to use Autosol, or similar, and the exhaust will come up perfect!

I don't need some one to tell me how to detail my car thanks ....

I'm not telling you how to detail your car, I'm trying to help others (after all, this is a thread where someone has asked for help).

Handbags away please ladies we are here to help each other :)

100% agree mate!

I was pointing out the fact the SRP is just as good as using autosol ( which I do use ) and the fineness of the wire wool is not going to damage anything... And I use it weekly . And have done on all of my cars and my brothers cars ...

I thought it was going to be left at that... obviously not.

You seem to have accused me of imposing my methods on you, when really that's what you've done. Why bother saying 'I don't need be told how to detail my car'. Sounds like you've got a chip on you shoulder and that you're looking for confrontation tbh. I think 'each to their own' is a saying worth mentioning here, that's my stance on it anyway.

i agree with ollie, i use steel wool with a bit of 'intensive tar remover' and they come up like new!! but there is more than one way to do everything, just find a way that suits you and your sorted! :)

Still cant get it to look good :( nothing i see to use will remove the crap

Have you got a picture mate? The Dodo Juice polish kit we discussed should get anything out really.

Put some elbow grease into it man !

But it is harder to get clean and shiny if it's Neva or hardly been cleaned , I've done mine since a week after I had it to keep it shiny .

Ive never got it clean attempted but always fail ill try get a picture tonight

Get rid of any tar/carbon spots with some tar remover (alternatives are WD40 or petrol. obviously be careful)

If its a brushed stainless finish then some autosol or any other polish on some fine 00 grade wire wool will clean practicaly anything that is renaining, leaving a satin finish.

For a polished stainless or chrome finish, stick to the Autosol on a cloth coupled with some elbow grease

^ What he said. I did this a while a go and it helped get my exhaust from charcoal black to shiny chrome again.

I'm currently looking at what appears to be a fluffy polishing ball thingy that you stick in a drill which looks spot on for the exhaust. Anyone used one?

Cheers mate. That was with the britemax twins, which adds protection to the exhaust too with the sealant. Took about 5 mins with some wirewool for the cut polish and a mf cloth for the final shine sealant.

I can't wait to move on from detailing smarts to some proper nice renaults!

Just to update this thread i tryed the Meguiars metal polish as the Autoglym stuff wouldnt move it and im happy to say the Megs stuff worked a treat :)

I used the megs stuff again last night, it's actually one of the best off the shelf products I've ever used. Really is very good for the price. Also, i find a little goes pretty far and as it's not a liquid its easy to use.

I'll always have some along with my britemax twins. Have you sealed it?
