...like my car isn't all it's cracked up to be!

After the knocking which was solved, it's got another. A large knock which can now be felt, but only as you pull away and stop. And a very minor oil leak to be sorted.

Grrrr.

When it works, it's beautful and the best car in the world to chuck through the twistie lanes, but when it's not.. :p

I had that large knock you are on about when you pull away and stop

turns out it was the drive shaft wasn't tight enough or something...when it went in for its 1st service the garage fixed it for me :) and now its as good as new.

There's nothing worse than when you feel like that. I had problems with my st and the oxygen sensor that's why it went lol.
What did you find that was causing the first knocking ?

Ive had the same when theres a problem the car looks to be sold but once sorted all the love was back for it.

You could technically say that with any car though no? As we all know no car will run perfectly all the time, try thinking as part of the bonding process :)

Any car car go wrong for whatever reason. If it starts to happen a lot I can see it getting very frustrating and the feel to change for reliability creeps in, but normally for me I look at it as how do the dealers respond to it going wrong. If your dealer is helpful, friendly and tries what they can to make things work around you then generally I'm happy. If they make it a ball-ache, that's when I usually want to call it quits.

Unfortunately it's in this vain that Renault dealers seem a bit hit and miss. Have found a few great ones, and a few shockers!

It's always bad times when you feel let down by your car and it taints the ownership experience. Especially when you're a real petrolhead and love your car as much as we do.

I have experienced the same thing as well. My Clio 172 went in for it's first service at 12 months old. I mentioned to them that the drive seat felt like it had some movement so asked if they'd check it under warranty. Now I can only guess they took the seat out because when I check it over afterwards, they'd damaged the leather steering wheel and four other bits of interior trim. It was somewhat disheartening for the 3 months it took them to get the parts but once it was done I felt happy about the car again.

Once it's fixed you'll feel happier mate but sadly with any new car, there are sometimes mechanical creases the first owner has to iron out.

As Alex has said, there are always problems with new cars.. But I know how you feel.. It's like when you have an accident - or even a scratch or something, it makes you lose interest somewhat and you start thinking about that car you didn't buy...

No no just this minute but this car is deffo a keeper! Only car I've actually wanted to keep, and keep standard, after a couple of months. TBH it's not a shame since I can't drive it anyways. Broke my foot/big toe and the part it attaches to (bloody hospital has strapped it regardless but couldn't xray due to technical problems or some crap meaning I'm in considerable discomfort) this morning :(

Oh no how on earth did you manage to do that!? How long are you not allowed to drive for? Hope its not to long. Looking on the bright side though once you can get back in the drivers seat you will fall in love with her all over again :) lol

Phone rang but i was busy so ignored it. Rang again so thought it might be urgent so went to get it downstairs. Bottom of stairs big toe folded under my foot, put my full weight onto it but then it's the way I fell (my foot was almost pointed down) that i think has made it as painful as it is! I've broken my big toe before and it certainly didn't hurt as much or as far around my foot as it does now!

jebus. ouch.

Well at least we all know not to try and attempt ballerina moves on the stairs when we are trying to get to the phone!

Jokes aside, was the person calling worth it?

Was just my best mate giving me a call  i'd only just put the phone down to him half an hour before!

Ohwel, just had to take the car out again and at like 5 mph the traction control light went nuts and it felt very uneasy. Makes sense if the drive shaft is knackered I guess. Being sorted tomorrow by renault watford though so all good.

Fingers crossed its an easy fix.

I thought you weren't supposed to be driving! Tut tut :p

Yup! Feeding myself for a month or so, so I kinda have to. Ohwel, pick up the courtesy car tomorrow and my car is at renault for as long as it takes to fix the oil leak and replace whatever has broken. Now I think about it, right before the clunk started, it did feel a little... wobbly. Like it wasn't very firm. Wonder if that's what I was feeling

Fingers crossed it will come back as good as new and you will fall back in love with it.

The only car i have ever truely loved was my Alfa 156. got to the point where is was costing way to much to keep running so basically I waited until the next fault turned up, refused to drive it (as i knew that when i did, all would be forgotten and it would worm its way back into my heart) until I was dropping it off after trading in. I made my wife drive it to me traded.
