As is evident from above - I've been keeping an eye on this. According to auto express, this is the production ready car to be shown off at the Tokyo motor show

im really liking that Toyota, bit softer than i thought it would be though

It does look pretty awesome. There'll probably be a TRD bodykit to sharpen it up a bit further - or potentially we'll have to wait and see what the subaru versions are like

So considering auto express as the source I'm expecting it to look more like smart or something  they do seem to confuse fact and fiction... I'm still awaiting the result of their official source regarding the Williams rebirth

It's a pity the price has ramped up so much. Still looks awesome. That Mugan does look pretty good too

I loooove it :D

It's also getting released as a Scion for the US Market, nodoubt an expansive range of Aftermarket parts availiable for it too :)

If this Hachi Roku ends up anywhere near as well supported in the Aftermarket as the AE86 Corolla, there'll be a lot of happy people :D

Subaru one out now too.

With an STI version on the way at some point too ;)

I'm more interested in the TRD version in development. Supercharged :D

Think it goes in production in 2013 but yea call me blasphemy but after my car I was thinking of a Clio 200 or this now..

Just spotted some pics from the Toyota Tokyo Auto Salon, which included a version of the GT-86 after it's been worked on by TRD (reworked suspension with new front and rear anti-roll bars, a carbon front strut, rear diffuser, and a new exhaust system)

30 min ago they delivered 2 Toyota's GT 86 at work.

One blue special edition with a giant (japanese style) spoiler, BBS alloys, different exhaust and very nice looking racing seats.

The other one was the standard red one with 2 racing stripes over the bonnet.. The sound is awesome! Although they're smaller than I thought, I'm loving them! :p

mmmm. Am looking forward to having a look at one at some point.

Just read this of auto express. ( So take its trustworthyness as you please)
The Toyota GT 86 will be priced from £24,995 when it goes on sale in June. This means that the 197bhp 2.0-litre rear-wheel-drive sports car can be yours for £5,000 less than a Nissan 370Z, £3,000 less than an entry-level Lotus Elise and £300 less than a VW Golf GTI.

The GT 86 was developed by Subaru and Toyota as a joint project, and it uses a direct-injection four-cylinder boxer engine mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed sequential gearbox. The rear-wheel-drive machine draws inspiration from Toyota's AE 86 from the Eighties, which has gained cult status among Japanese car fans.

Our first drive in Japan revealed that the Toyota was somewhat true to its inspiration – thanks to its sharp turn-in, minimal body roll and excellent grip. It' was clear that the chassis can handle more power, and that’s precisely what Toyota claims it intended, as the GT 86 is designed to provide a foundation for customisation and, in the process, deliver the brand some much needed credibility among enthusiasts.

Toyota expects to sell around 4,000 GT 86s in the UK each year, while Subaru has forecast 1,000 annual sales for its BRZ. Prices have not been announced for the BRZ, which also goes on sale in June.
