Whouldn't it be more effective to buy a big random engine and put it behind the seats? There's a video on YouTube from a fiat 500 abarth that's mid-engined with rear wheel drive., think that would be a great car with awesome handling as it's rwd..

On such a short wheelbase? You must be kidding!

the standard pistons and engine can take 0.5bar pressure, something like 10-14 psi (not sure on bar to psi conversions but def 0.5bar is max to push) but there are lower compression at 8.0 you can get but no forged conrods as of yet. was quoted a 40 bhp/ft-lb increase

That is a very low compression rate for a 40 bhp gain... Conrods should be possible to buy custom made? Or at least Super 1600 items? Won't be cheap though!

the hoped 40bhp would be from stock 11:0 pistons. the 8:0 would give a lot more power. heard k4m shares the same rods as a 19 i believe. have to dig it out on one of the forums.

Still 8:1 is very low for modern engines, you would be looking at serious boost levels and extreme power to need this on a street car, I think 9:1 or 9.5:1 would suit better.

No I'm not actually,

Nice if your only into donuts and burnouts... But from all the cars I've owned (FWD, RWD, AWD, mid engined, standard, modified) the Twingo RS has the best handling, straight out of the box!

Is 13 for Super 1600 spec? You have to run it on RON 100 the least? 10 would be nice for a small supercharger or very small turbo (but actually a bit high). 8 would be for serious turbo. You would say 12 would be better for serious N/A tuning for road tuning and 9 would be ideal for a decent turbo set up (200-250 bhp)

The 6R4 is AWD! The Twingo RS has a better handling than a R5 Maxi...

I'm well aware the 6R4 was 4WD and yes, the TRS would probably have better handling than the R5 Maxi.

But given the Successes of the R5 in rallying, big power and short wheelbase doesn't always lead to something that's a comedy handling shed, which is back to the original dispute

ANYWAYS! Back to Topic...

I'm sure we can all agree, where the cheapest power/£ comes into play, 172/182 engine swaps are seeming the most likely.

Though, I would personally like to have a Supercharged 1.6 133, would be fun to have more usable torque.

I think a supercharger would be great fun, especially one with the same horsepower as the Mini Cooper Works GP... Would be easier on a FWD too...

You could ask what the TMR200 cost, I don't think it won't be cheap, but gives you reliable 210 horses based on the 197/200... The older Renault 172/182 engines would be cheaper for sure!

Either Centri or Eaton Type, probably edging more towards the Centrifugal type though.

And, a little side note, if you think the 172 Engine doesn't give you enough torque steer, you could always buy the Rotrex for that because it's already been developed and ironed out :D

For those seeking a turbocharger conversion could perhaps have a go at DP Engineering https://www.dp-engineering.nl/, they do a lot of french cars (primarily PSA, but can do others), from mild to wild! On the pages there are 1.6 16V's between 175 bhp and 330 bhp...

Personally if I was going to spend this kind of money I would want to be sure there are decent components such as forged conrods, pistons and crankshaft. And perhaps even the Super 1600 strengthening kit from Sodemo to make sure the bottom end is bullet proof... Because of the extra torque and same rev range I would probably also considering in replacing the tyres by 205/45 R17 (same as diameter as Twingo R2),

*COUGH* Hate to piss in your pot, but where did you hear the R2 Running 17s?
Every single one I've seen on stage runs 16 :?:

Yep, they are all running 16s as most rally cars of that size do. 17s would be too much for bad roads! Also the specs say they are using 195/45/16 tyres, not 205/45/17 ;) Going off-topic though.
