front end very ford, can see what they said about being confused to start with in the article, hopefully this is jus the standard, otherwise the new clio sport looks kinda boring

And a 1.6 turbo at that.... One of the reasons i punted for a 197 over a similar price rs meg was i prefer NA's.

They was everything is going though. Large fairly powerful NAs days are numbered

And a 1.6 turbo, rather than 2.0 n/a.

Apart from the economy, I think this is a backward step.

eta: Looks like we were on the same thought train there, Weebob.

unfortunately that is the reason, everyone wants to make a more economic car, sad times for the n/a's

On the plus side for Twingo/Wind owners, what's the betting that the 133 1.6 engine will be used as the basis for the turbo that they will slot in it?

They thing i don't get is you don't buy a RS to save money and it to take things easy at the pumps.

My mate has a astra 1.6 turbo @ nearly 200bhp oddly enough his mpg isn't to dissimilar to my 197.

I think Renault couldn't get the f4r to get to the next set of euro standards and had to route though the parts bin.

I agree. #2 daughter has a Corsa VXR, and that is terrible on fuel. Low 30s per gallon on a 30 mile (each way) commute at legal speed on cruise control.

The euro standards and all the CO2 emissions targets have to have a fair bit to do with it really. Looking at what all the main competitors are achieving (particularly in the relm of CO2) they have to do something to match suit, or they'll lose out a chunk of sales.

If you want a good example of this look at how Mazda RX8 sales (& now used prices) have been massively walloped after they had the big VED tax increase.

On one hand, it's possible it could make the Clio RS more affordable towards taxes and insurance.

I'd remap that mother bitch as soon as I would get it.

I know there maybe some cars that break that's rule, but I'll always prefer the 3 door alternative. I can see the why the 1.6t decision was made, however 5 door only is criminal. Could only be a cost saving exercise.

Let's be honest I'm sure RS will turn out a cracking car, whether or not it's 'special' is another matter.

Most other manufacturers create a hot hatch by lobbing some tweaks, bits of plastic trim and a beffed up engine at a normal car. Hope RS isn't doing that.

Well in auto express today the meg 265 came third to the golf and the focus. One of the biggest reasons was the lack of a 5 door?
