Afternoon all

Just a quick one, was unsure were to post so iv slapped it here. Feel free to tell me off!

I cannot find my mot certificate, its due around now. Iv checked it on the .gov website.
Can the garage mot my car without it?
If not do I need any other documents at the time of the mot?
Any guidance would be much appreicated, cheers

you don't need any form of documentation whatsoever. guessing this is your first time going for an MOT ?

in the old days as they say, you'd take the old certificate in so that you could preserve the anniversary date of your MOT and if possible add on an extra month to give you 13 months MOT assuming you'd took it in for it's MOT 1 month before it was up. but vosa have had computers for a while now, so you've not needed to take in the old certificate since the late 90's. they'll check on the vosa database to see your renewal date when issuing the new certificate

Cheers chaps. Popped to the garage and they said they don't need certificate.

Thanks for the speedy replies guys.
No its the car second mot, Its the first one I'll have given this particular car, the garage which I bought it from didn't give me the mot when I purchased the car and promised to post it and never did.
Cheers again

in which case you can go into the MOT station where the MOT was done and pay a small fee for a reprint of the certificate should you need it

£10 usually

However you can check the mot history of a car online, everything you'd see on the certificate, so long as you have the reg - last mot date or doc ref from the v5
