Hi people I'm thinking of trading in my muched loved twingo for Clio 200 but not sure if I should or not does anyone no what they are like on petrol any help or advice on the 200 would be greatful

Thanks

About town anything from 18-28 mpg seems to be the norm from what I've read and spoken to owners, in fact I've got a mate in a 197 on his way to see me now and I suspect he'll get far less than 18  not sure what they're like on a much longer run but I'm told they still drink. Whereas I got over 40mpg this week in my 133. Yes I drove like a granny and yes I've never concentrated so hard on driving steadily and at a set pace but it seems to have paid off lol

Tbh neither the 133 or the 200 are logical choices, they're emotional choices so whichever you prefer you'll end up with...

ask penn, he went from a twingo to a clio. he would be the best person to give advice

Much more expensive to run, tax, tyres, fuel and insurance. Tax and fuel are the main ones.

Cruising at 68mph on the cruise control netted me at most 34mpg, bring that up to 70/72 and I sat at 30mpg. The thing is, you'll never drive it like that :)

If (when) you drive it hard, or do town driving you're looking at around 22-26mpg at best. I regularly got approx 330 miles out of a full tank and thats with the majority of miles being on the motorway.

Clio is by far and away a better car than the Twingo in every way, especially if you go for a highly specced Clio like I did. If you're just after the driving experience however and keep costs down, choose the normal 200 and add the cup chassis as the only option. You'll get a much nicer interior and a lot more creature comforts than the cup.

One thing to note, the Clio is too fast for public roads. You'll hit triple figures redlining 3rd and shifting into 4th so it's no where near as usable as the Twingo. The Twingo is much more fun as you can use so much more of its capabilities on the roads. If you plan to track regularly however, go for the Clio.

My advise to you, go and take a proper test drive in a Clio 200, somewhere that will let you stretch its legs and see what you think. Just remember that it definitely will cost you quite a bit more than the Twingo to run (and so it should).

I have to admit that the Clio 200 is a logical step up from a Twingo 133.

The Twingo is the Clio's little brother. The Clio is bigger, more powerful, better spec etc. It's just that bit more RenaultSport-ness.

If you can afford the additional running costs then go for it!!

I'm trying to persuade the Mrs that a Megane 250 is a perfect 'family car' for year or two's time! :D

Thanks guy's I think I'm getting it in June for my birthday the only bad thing is I just about get 30 mpg on a good day in the twingo but will have to take the lead out the foot lol

You Probably won't drive like your pubes are on fire in the 200 as it will have much more power at hand when you want a 'proper drive' treating yourself :p

Both are 'underpowered' clio is pure car amazing in every way but it costs for that extra -2 secs to 60 and the 20mph extra top speed. You have to ask if its worth it. If you are on less than 30k a year or dont live with mum and dad then you cant afford it imo

Well I'm on just Over the 30k and I'm moveing out and buying my own place end Of the year and it's about time I got a new car befor I can't afford a new car

I'm just looking at car at the min I dnt think you would need that much money to run a Clio anyway

When u factor in having a life a clio is expensive lol

just figure out the loan/finance on it divide the tax by 12 and roughly how much fuel youl be putting in each month plus servicing costs etc...

Adds up to a suprising amount!

Personally I'd stick to the twingo. I have driven both as I had the same thoughts but I smile more getting out the twingo! But thats just me

When I went and had a look at the 200 the 133 feels bigger because u can either haw a big boot or passanger space + I like the fact it's a bit of an odd car :)

Id say if you are true enthusiast the clio is the way to go little example of when i 'test drove' the clio on one particular corner the clio just laughed and almost said what corner? The twingo i felt the whole chassis move around nervously. They arent in the same league really but id wager the twingo to be a better rally car than a clio could be...well at least more fun

Went from a 200 to a 133. Like what's already been mentioned, the 200 is much more expensive to run! I averaged around 30mpg(ish) at best. On a good blast, expect around the 20 mark.

Couldn't find much difference in the handling/cornering tbh, both superb, the 200 just has the extra bit of acceleration and straight line speed.

Really depends what you want....I downgraded due to running costs and an uncertain future job wise
