Good tyre on a budget. Tyres have moved on but the price keeps rising, and the toyo hasn't suddenly become a bad tyre. Ignore those who will bitch about side walls being soft (they did change them at some point and its a lot of forum rumours and chatter and those who comment usually haven't driven them) or that they last 1000 miles before reaching the canvas. My old car had continental Eco tyres that wore down within 7000 miles but the Toyos lasted more than double whilst transforming the car and being half the price

Plus I found them good in the snow and wet stuff. I've currently tried the maxxis maz1 which is also good but I prefer the Toyos still. Think I will be going for another set once I've used these fronts, the Toyos on the rear have done 12000 and still look reasonably unworn unlike the contis it came with

cheers for that.

very good tyre in both wet and dry and good value for money as the performance they offer is better or equal to tyres that cost twice as much!

My 2 pence (having owned 2 sets on 2 different cars).

Sidewalls - Yes, they are soft, but compared to most tyres these days, it's just what comes with a lightweight Carcass.
R1Rs have a much stiffer sidewall by comparison but at 2x the cost, I would hope so.

Wear - The last set I had were 280 Wear Rate and I went through the outside edge on all 4 tyres within ~8k Miles (previous set was similar) but, given the cost, you can't really argue with that.

Dry Grip - Great, can't really fault them apart from the softer sidewalls tending to shimmy a bit under hard driving.

Wet Grip - As long as you don't drive like a cock, you'll be fine. Progressive level of grip and a safe limit. Yoko Parada Spec IIs are VERY snappy in the wet.

Snow Grip - Had these on my car last year in the snow, on my Rover (without ABS) a few years ago in the snow and never had any issues. You can see the packed snow wedges fly off your back tyres in the snow, clears the tread well and still gives you plenty of grip.

Price - Cannot argue with them AT ALL.

I've recently moved to R1Rs as I fancied to step up in the world :)

Do people buy these off the internet and get a Garage to put them on? Because I can find them much cheaper on the internet than in garages. :(

How I did it. Then paid £15 for two fitted. Did that with carries as well for her.

Some of the mail order places will send them to an associate garage local to you, who will fit them on behalf of the mail order company. You usually pay about £15 fitting per tyre, at the time you purchas the tyres.

So I spoke to a garage that does them and they can do 195/50/15 T1R's for £40 each fitted.... that price any good?

Cool I may get them done in a couple of weeks.... can't be risking driving around for much longer on these tyres.

They don't do 185/55/15 in them :(

Why would you want that size?

Standard size of the GT tyres

Right. I would think you'd be okay with 195/50s, as that would be the standard size on 15" wheels for other Twingos.

Positive mine are 185 lol. Ill have to check in the morning

No, I believe you. It may just be the 16s that are usually 195 (and then a 45 profile).

185/55/15 is the size renault use as standard on most of their small cars but they are an odd size making tyres expensive, ive always swapped my Clios and will be swapping my Twingo to 195/50/15. wider tyre with more contact on the road for more grip and a lower profile sidewall for less flex, overall a worth while upgrade and all while being cheaper. (plus they look much better!)

Ive always used T1R's on my lower powered cars and they are more than up to the job, tried them on a 172 at one point and they were still good but nothing compaired to the Michelin PE2's i had used in the past however i got 3 T1R's for what i paid per PE2!!. I switched to T1R's once Goodyear eagle F1's went up in price suddenly.

They fall into the price bracket of budget tyres, however they will happily compete with most entry level performance tyres and i would use them for a track day without any issues (i have in the past on various ocassions), sure theres better tyres out there but for £30 odd quid a tyre last time i checked in 15" then you will struggle to beat them

the one thing i will say as they are VERY soft, on my dci100 i was lucky if i was getting 5,000 miles out the front pair! but this was a fairly harsh suspension setup with spirited driving, but at the price i cant complain, will be fitting them to the Twingo.

Another note, the sidewalls are stiffer as said above but i find if you use a bit of a higher pressure than you normally would they are well suited, i was running 36psi all round with some good results. (i normally run 32 front 30 rear)
