Injectors wont cost that much... ebay / breaker garages are far cheaper for 2nd hand low mileage cars!

you'll need injectors from a 172/182 so at tops it could cost £80 max!

I've also heard a few stories about rs tuning. I think you have to consider that not everything will always work perfect and that those who talk on forums are often going to be those who have had a bad experience.

I've also heard plenty that have had a good experience at each. Both aren't exactly central locations though, so that may also be a factor when deciding, as well as the price.

I had previously been been tempted to go to Ktec however as Maggi pointed out its not a centralish location and abit too far too travel just for a remap & if anything "does" go wrong its a long way to go back and sort!

I've not heard anything about either and mines booked in at R.S Tuning as luckily its a 10min drive :)

My quote was £350 from them and i'm happy with that, its a little over budget but for a custom map its fair enough.

I did get a price from Elite Remap in leeds which was £200 afair bit cheaper but its a vital change and well thats my choice :)

Its the map that costs the money. Been quoted £395 plus vat by RS Tuning.
k-tec 300 all in

Wouldn't let ktec map my cars, I know RS tuning will take their time and make or perfect and will custom map it.
it's personal preference at the end of the day iv heard a few story's about RS tuning aswell as k-tec. Andy's a great mapper he took 3-4 hours mapping it. he took it out for a test drive it had a little flat spot so he got it back on to the rr to correct it ;)

Don't think i've mentioned this but my last car was an 02 Clio 1.6 16v Dynamique with cat back exhaust, KW dampers, Eibach pro springs, filter and a remap and I loved it. Wasn't necessarily the fastest car ever but it sounded great, handled great and was very sharp and responsive (until the electrics started playing up).

If I thought doing the same mods to the Twingo would do the same I would do it tomorrow but i'm not sure. The injectors have thrown a big spanner into the works as it adds on another £300 compared to a standard remap.

I'm planning on looking at an ST/Swift and then making a decision. If they don't feel night and day i'll be starting a progress thread. :p
If you have the modding bug, the problem with getting a better car is, sometime in the near future you will still be wanting more from it ;)

Its not just about the performance though. I suppose the reason I'm thinking about upgrading the gt is that its the only way to improve the driving experience.

I've been to drive a Swift Sport and it didn't seem particularly fast but the general way the car drove and felt was much closer to what i wanted. The pedals and steering are really nicely weighted and the car feels great without needing a lot of money throwing at it.

Only issue is the dealer valued my car at £3250 (£1150 under book trade in value) so I'd need to sell privately.

I still like the older shape swifts in yellow mainly lol

Chris that Deffo looks to be a 5 door.

Did they make it in more doors elsewhere?

Had a drive of an ST the other day and really liked that too. Felt like a very good car all round. Went to look at one today but the condition was disappointing. Saw another GT on the way back in wakefield and was told they waved but i missed that so sorry if it was anyone on here.

My gut feeling is that the ST would make me happiest but it all depends on price. May need to test another swift before i decide but the engine doesn't seem too flexible due to the high revving nature.

Update - Didn't feel this was worthy of bumping the thread but I opted for a Swift Sport. Probably not as quick as a modded GT but the car was set up from the factory to be what I wanted.

If you like the Twingo in general as a car then my advice would be to save your money and put it towards a 133 instead. The GT is a great little car but the 133 is the top of the Twingo tree so if you want something to tune and play with over time then why not do it with the best variant? You'll never get your money back come selling time but a 133 will always be worth more than a GT.

The Swift Sport is a phenomenal car for the money and there's SO much tuning potential as with anything Japanese. I considered swapping the 197 for one but I couldn't do it because for what I would have had to have spent on the SS to get it to the base level of the 197, I would have just been p!ssing money away for the sake of it. If you can push your finances to insure a 197 then why not look into that if you like Renaultsport as a brand? You can get an early one for ~£5,000 now...
