Well you'll usually find they ask for modifications AND optional extras. And it certainly is classed as one of them. Whether or not it's been treated correctly, however, is disputable. I wouldn't imagine being an optional extra would change it significantly.

But it's a statistics game, remember. And if the stats say optional cup's have more accidents, it'll go up. I wouldn't tell them the changes it makes to the car, I would imagine telling your insurance it's lowered would sound like a modification and that's what they tick, rather than ticking the correct box
 
The only reason I know mine has the Cup chassis is because I specifically asked about it, and the sales guy had to go to someone who could look it up on the Renault database. Literally no-one there knew, so of course it wasn't advertised, and the sales paperwork doesn't mention it.

Given that I don't see how I could be held responsible should it ever become an insurance question, there was no "Twingo Gordini 133 Cup" choice on the quote forms, and mods-declaration-wise there was just a box I had to check that said the car is unmodified from factory form.
