How do they compare?

My girlfriend's mate has one and I wonder how they compare, acceleration, top speed and handling.

What simple changes can be made to boost the Twingo's performance?

VXR is faster to 62, in gear and top end, it's a 1.6 turbo afterall and not even in competition with a twingo RS.

Better comparison is a zetec s or Suzuki swift sport or even a Mini Cooper. All are 1.6NA and are sporty.

As for tuning a twingo RS you won't see massive improvements unless you spend well over £1000, but there's a search function for this and read singlespeeds Gordini project thread and Yotahs to find out the best mods available.

I have a RS and my best friend has a Vxr on speed he kills me but on a open road I am all over him as a RS handles so much better

No afraid not, corsa VXRs are my enemies ;) Renault sports handle much better though, twingo or clio :)

waitey, thanks for all the responses. Will read up on those. I drive the car hard as they suggested that when I bought it, always revving hard and through 2nd and 3rd it really flies. So I don't need to improve it a great deal. K-tec is near me so will look into upgrades. Not that bothered with top speed just quickness.

my gt will hang with them to 80 then there gone. good old brake boost

Really? 0-62 they can be a good match for a healthy 197, never mind a Gt or 133. By hang do you mean behind them and they are happily pulling away?

As with anything vauxhall, the handling simply doesn't compare (well standard setup at least). 0-62 is boring.

Unless it your 197 and it decides when it crunches/won't go in to gear? :D

Search rent for ring corsa on youtube.

0-62 is awesome in mine as its a complete gamble is to which gears with engage happily. 1st gear then straight into 3rd is normally good. Keeps you on your toes.

mine is certainly discounted from the healthy 197 part. Anything would eat my 197 alive at the mo as its up on a ramp having the dodgy body work sorted.

dont forget its 138 bhp and stripped out ;)

Corsa VXR is pretty damned good. My daughter's one was way better than a Twingo could ever be in performance, equipment, and finish - but at a completely different price point, so they really aren't rivals. The latest Nurburgring retails at close to £25k!

You might as well try and convince yourself that you'd rather have a Twingo than a 911 Turbo.

An of course sam666 balls clang when he walks!

Even at 138bhp it's a tall order to keep up I'm afraid I'm not a believer

Bear in mind these dont take into all other factors than bhp, a ruff est of drive train loss and weight... (pretty useless stats to be honest)

Power to Weight: 103 bhp/ton

0-100: 32.7
60-100: 22.8
1/4 Mile ET: 18.64
1/4 Mile Terminal: 75
Dragstrip 1/4 Mile ET: 18.32

remapped gt (?)

FWD - 138bhp & 980kg
Power to Weight: 143 bhp/ton

They're the weights without a driver and a full tank of petrol aren't they? :p

Frankly, the biggest equaliser is a person in the shyte car being brave. They will always win - until they pay the ultimate price..... :?

Yup, completely misses things like gearing, aerodynamics, weight distribution etc etc etc
