HI Karl
Thanks for the email
Where did you purchase the product from ? Have you emailed them also ?What dillution ratio did you use ?
The product itself is not acid based its alkaline
I cant see it being the heavy duty orange degreaser but what i will do is forward this over to our technical dept in the USA and get their opinion also ,
I have used this product many times for engine bays etc and havent had this issue before
Let me see what the guys in the US think though
Thanks
David
HI
Thanks for that
It is not an acid based cleaner as i have tested the ph of it .I dont think its that that has caused the damage but i have already emailed the guys in the states and we shall see what they say
Thanks

HI
This is the reply i got from Chemical Guys
Engine cleaning is a complicated thing. When cleaning an engine ALWAYS
cover spark plugs coils, spark dispenser and alternator. ALL
electrical components are to always be covered ... Electrical
components spark and transfer electricity even with water alone
rgoudning out betwee the spark and the engine it will cause fast
corrosion on all electric components.
Any water that seeps in the spar plug slot will cause this.
: ) P
Hope that helps

Dear Karl,
Sorry about the earlier e-mail had to write you back fast because I
didn't want you to wait and unfortunately I was driving and texting
you at the same time.
We never recommend that any degreaser is sprayed on to the engine of
any kind without proper dilution and covering up of all electric
components.. We sell degreasers to many OEM users, automakers as well
as manufacturers of tractors and industrial equipment with exposed
engines and have never had any such problem.
I like yourself have been in the automotive industry for a very long
time and have had this come up many times with various vehicles. Some
were customers who washed engines and water got stuck in the spark
plug hole (socket) usually causing misfire and over time corrosion.
Some had to do with the spark plug wires and just a little bit of
moisture and I even had many that were simply just strange random
things that happened. If moisture or water wouldn't have gotten into
the spark plug socket this would not have happened.
Degreasers are strong and caustic and as such if you insist on using
it on engines for future use I would highly recommend using a much
lighter degreaser like Nonsense diluted 30 to 1 or higher and always
covering up all electric components completely and avoid on contact
with water, or ideally using steam to clean the engine. Orange
degreaser is strong for regular use on cars I even dilute it 50 to 1.
What happened to you happens to many people all over the world who
don't use any degreasers to clean engines. If you simply Google "
Problems with water near spark plugs" you will get many people who
have had the same problem as yourself for example:

I do not want to go any further on this topic, more importantly I want
you to be happy. I can imagine you have used other products of ours
and will probably be using more in the future and I wish that everyone
who uses Chemical Guys products will have a great experience. . I am
also upset that no one got back to you sooner and as always your
happiness is important to use. Life is short and all experiences
should be pleasant ones. I do not want you to be upset.
If it is OK by you and hopefully as a showing of good faith and
friendship I will speak to David G. in the UK to give you a credit for
some products you can enjoy that will hopefully liven up your day. If
you like I will offer you 4 16oz bottles of any products of your
choice from our Chemical Guys UK location. Hopefully these products of
your choice will help make for a more pleasant experience and overall
make you smile. If you lived closer to Los Angeles I would tell you
to come by and say hello : ).
Let me know how that sounds to you?
Best Wishes,
Paul : )
