Now I know we were discussing this in another thread so I thought I'd start this one up as someone else suggested.

Post your tyre reviews good or bad and let people know what you think of them :)

Uniroyal rainsport 2... Amazing tyres
Pirelli p6000 good in dry dangerous in the wet!

Contisport 2 Good tyres, but expensive.

Uniroyal Rainsport 2. Fantastic tyres. Good grip in the wet or dry, wear well, and cheap! Is there anything else you'd need?

Conti sport contact 3s. Good braking, great grip but I felt dropped off very quickly and expensive.

Prada spec 2 - odd. I didn't like them in any condition. Average price

Toyo t1r - an old favourite and still IMO a good tyre. Loads of forum chatter (also known as bull s***) about poor wear but they far out lasted some old continentals I had. The soft tyre walls don't seem to be much of an issue. They grip well in all conditions and are quite progressive if/when they do let go and of course very well priced

Maxxis maz1 (on my list to tey and buy) supposedly a drift tyre but I was passenger in an xfr with them on and I promise you it copes with 500 horses so on a 133 i wouldn't mind putting them on. In fact I'm tempted to try as in all the tests they came higher than the t1r above and seem great in the wet, however, I like to ignore forum 'chatter' and make my own mind up about tyres.

Continental Contact Sport 3:

These came stock with the car. There pretty good actually but only the tirewear is a little high maybe but that depends how you drive it.

Pirelli P Zero Nero:

To be honest, it's hard to notice a difference between the Conti's and these. Very good tires, I like them.

Did some Nurburgring with them, made them squeel a few times in turns so they show some wear already but it I'm pleased with them.

Continental Sport Contact 3: Best Tyre I have used so far, dry grip is fantastic, wet grip is also great, I haven't gone through a full set yet so I can't comment on the wear of them but I don't rag it around everywhere so hopefully it won't be too bad.

Pirelli P7000: Had these on my GTI180 first of all, I believe they were the stock tyre fitted from the factory. I really didn't like these, Dry grip was ok but the wet grip was terrible, understeer and wheelspins galore.

Falken FK452: For a "sporty" Tyre they are average at best... the grip wasn't Fantastic in the dry or the wet but for a low price I can't really complain too much, they did wear well though, lasted well over a year of spirited driving.

Yokohama Parada Spec 2: Dry grip was outstanding, could literally throw it at any speed in to a corner and you could feel what the car was going to do but my god were they scary in the wet, literally no grip at any speeds over 30 mph cornering and the amount of understeer was unbelievable. Had many **** my pants moments with these...

Nankang NS2: These were on the GT when I bought it as the previous owner was obviously a tight git. However for a cheap tyre they were definitely better than the Falken FK452's on the pug and better than other budget tyres I've had the joy of using on other peoples cars. Dry grip is good but wet was not so good as they're a fairly hard compound.

I've got Dunlop sp sport Maxx (think that's the complete name).

I'd rate them as a very good tyre. I've got them in 195/40/17 and the offer a fair bit more rim protection than the contis which is nice. The continental cs3s are my only other frame of reference and I'd rate the dunlops pretty equally with them. I've not taken my 133 on the track, so obviously not been finding complete limits, but for road use they're very good, and I think produce a little less road noise than the contis. Can also say they have behaved very well in both cold and very wet conditions.

Overall I'd recommend them and won't hesitate to have them again if they're still available when I next need a set.

Well possibly controversially... I put some fresh maxxis maz1's on mine.

Now I'm no racing driver and don't often push the car to it's limits or near it, so r888 levels of dry grip aren't really going to interest me, as is going 0.1 mph quicker through a speed trap on a perfect track...

I went for these on the basis I enjoy the way my cars have driven with t1r's and these seemed to be similar, but averaged slightly better overal and were in the same price bracket and we all like trying new things.

First impressions after around 100 miles...

Quiet compared to the conti's. After a few miles to scrub them in I tried a roundabout... and it went round. I tried to increase the speed and my stomach actually started before the car wanted to let go. Good start. (and actually didn't feel as twitchy as the conti's... more planted but still very, very very chuckable)

Braking, seems to be very good. Better than the t1r's even. I'd say on a par with the conti's perhaps.

No rain yet here so not got an opinion of that. But I'm certainly impressed with what some slate...

conti 3s - cant fault them excellent tyre all round
hankook evo - almost as good as the contis in the dry grip fook aww in the wet (cheaper than conti)
toyo t1r - good tyre again fronts only lasted 6000 miles might not have been down to the tyre tho

Our little 133 has rears that are nearing their legal limit so this thread will come in handy.

I assume some people have tried 205s as opposed to the silly standard 195s? And any adverse issues with running the wider tyre? ie. rubbing etc?

Oh forgot to say on mine contis were 195 and the rest are all 205

I consider my Continental's the best tyre I have had so far, no matter the price I will replace them by the same, but probably a 205/40 which fits 7J wheels better and fill the arches a bit better. And cheaper as well...

Well the choice is greatly improved and the price is better.

Ive now got a few more miles on the maxxis and I'm perfectly happy with them as a road tyre. Sure on track you might notice but that's not an issue right now. I'd buy smaller wheels and tyres anyway if it was to become an issue.

By the look of the wheel arches you would say even bigger would fit...

So the 4 spare 215/45/17 Conti 5s I have in the garage would go on with no issues?
