yeah they will sort it, doesnt sound good though pal. least its being sorted and u know its nothing you have done, sounds like bad sectors in hdd or faulty ram, but would have to look at it to be sure, least u got everything backed up

the main thing is you backed it up, but! scan that external as well. i now some brought virus checkers can scan added drives before moving stuff back on. hopefully worms just stick to attacking the OS files etc so might leave alone your back up work but deff worth a scan of those files will be gutting to get back a health laptop to spread the plague all over again :(
hopefully if sony does repair any hardware, normall they go out of date so quick the stuff near enough to the specs you first brought it at wil be put in but might be better/faster etc. good luck :)
 
Safest thing to do is copy your music, photos and documents and ditch the rest :)

Copying those files means you can be back up and running when you move them over to iTunes, iPhoto and iWork ;)
 
just a quick one has anyone on here heard of/used something called rkill????
