and inquired about getting a Twingo RS in LY.

My boyfriend works away a lot and doesn't see the point in keeping his car so he's gonna take my GT and buy the RS133 for me and trade his Suzuki Swift Sport for it. The dealer says I could get it for 229 a month on the 4+ package but this value can be negotiated once he values the swift etc.

So ideally I'm looking at getting the LY 133 with gloss black renaultsport alloys 17" and the renaultsport monitor, would anyone recommend getting any other options (or not getting any)? I was looking at cup pack and automatic climate control but obviously this all adds cost to the original price :p

Surely work it out on the price of the car. Then the price of the trade in. Don't let the trade in dictate the price of the purchase.

As I understand Renault offer the 4+ on all cars, so again, don't let that affect the deal. Always agree the price then how it will be paid. And if you can visit another garage and work out their best deal

Kelly I'm not hugely up to date with sales side of my work (renault mechanic) but arnold clark do the twingo rs 133 for 139 per month, well it was that when I got my gt for £1,500 (trade in steal before it went auction ;) back in december, surely its not doubled in pricelol? Or is your price for the full package??

Is the RS Monitor costing u much more? I would much prefer the cup pack to the monitor. I never use my rs monitor, Tis fun but it's a bit of a gimmick. Just my thoughts.

I love the climate control, and if it still exists the stereo upgrade is worthwhile.

Price they quoted was £229 for facelift 133 on the 4+ package and this was based on driving 6000 miles a year (I only did 3000 last year )

This was exactly my thoughts ... may just go with the cup pack cause I probably wouldn't used it - unless I bat my eyelashes at the salesman and he decides to give me it :p

What's the difference with the climate control? and the stereo upgrade?

Depends on the plan you buy it on if it has a bundle at the end or not and at £139 a month it will have a bundle at the end.

So over 4 years you're paying a good ~£10k and that's on a pcp plus a chunky deposit with a balance to pay... Really worth it for a twingo? I'd rather have it on a hp for a tiny bit more monthly and own it at the end

I've still to fiddle around with numbers but I've always preferred HP to the 4+ scheme, just trying to haggle with the salesman to get a good price! Do you reckon I could haggle down the original price of the car or is there only leeway with used cars?

Is the 4+ only pcp? What do they offer on hp? I worked on the price of the car and then my trade in and then how I would pay. And I got 0% hp over three years

ok the monitor bit is a bit gimicky, and i dont use that much, but dont forget with it as well, is the bluetooth connection for phone and the upgraded stero, so instead of the 2x 15 watt, you get 4 x 20 watt speakers.

this is for teh old shape, i dont know if this is the case for the facelift, but worth a look. so i wouldnt rule out the monitor pack just yet, as i use my bluetooth all the time and the speakers are prety good compared to standard

saying that, i love the cup pack just as much if maybe a little more

Definitely. Haggling against a new car is very expected. What Car's target price for the 133 before extras is £12,814 (With list price being £13,565). They also say if your dealer won't get down to that price they will put you in touch with one who will. You should also try and aim to get a similar percentage to what you get off the car price off any accessories too.

Well how I do it is I have 3 prices.

What they want me to pay
What I want to pay
How much I'm willing to pay (top end)

I go in and don't discuss how I'm paying. I always aim for the third And dont go higher than the second. It's purely the car and what I want and then agree a price. I do not let how I pay affect it, they always try : if you take it on 0% you can't have any money off but if you pay with this deal you get this and I'll give you summin off it. The two shouldn't be related.

Then I discuss my trade in. Again they'll try to make one affect the other. And again don't let them.

Then discuss how you're paying the balance. If they offer 0% hire purchase then you'll have no balance at the end and you'll own the car. But equally you will have the burden of ownership that comes with it. My preferred choice if it has to be financed. Pcp you only lease it, it has stupid mileage restrictions (not really anything that bothers you) and at the end of it you have nothing to show for it other than less money and no car or a big balance to pay. 0% shouldn't really affect it but if there is interest then you usually pay interest on the balance at the end you're not even paying off... I tend to think of it as mickey mouse finance unless you do 0 miles have don't mind not owning a car and it does have a few advantages.

Check what the 4+ deal actually is

I´d personnaly go for the Cup package if possible, as the handling is just much better than the standard car. I had the cruise control on mine (gone since as I change the steering wheel) but it is a good add-on from time to time.

Regarding the RS Monitor, well I´ve driven a Megane RS with it, in the end you don´t use it so much, and I only found it fun once when I was on the track to see the Gs I was taking. But only once ... so worth it? Not sure. Unless it gives you info on your water and oil temp (I doubt it), then I wouldn´t pay any extra for that.

The stereo upgrade, might be cheaper to buy aftermarket stuff and fit it, and it could give you even better sound quality, as Renault is not well known for super good stereo systems in its cars.

RS gear knob and RS handlebrake are good upgrades, and the RS pedals too.

For the payment, it´s up to you, I have no idea of what is possible in UK for new cars so I won´t say anything apart from : it´s better to own your car at the end!

1st screen is power and torque %'s
2nd is temps for oil and water
3rd is lap timer with splits
4th is 0-60 and 1/4 mile timer
5th is g meter and graph

Wouldn't go for the RS monitor.. it's a nice little gadget but not worth it if you have to decide between options.

The bluetooth pack could be handy since I connect my phone with it and use it to listen to music.

There's one expensive option I'd consider though is the sunroof but I dunno if it's an option available in the UK.

I know how it is having no roof and hearing your sporty exhaust roaring! :D
