I don't have braided lines but when I got into someone's who did, felt totally different, no slight spongey feel at first.

braided lines still swell a little bit anyway, but probably not as much as five year old flexible rubber hozes.

How well the system is bled before/after fitting will make the biggest difference to the feel. Anyone who raves about them, probably needed an overhaul, new fluid before hand.
