So im on the right hand lane approaching a roundabout and theres a nissan micra in thr left lane. As i go round on the inside said micra decides to cut in front of me causing me to lockup the brakes and hit the inside of the roundabout kerb with a big bang with the front wheel. Took a chunk of the lip of the tyre out and big scuff on the wheel.

Looks like cosmetic damage say from kerbing but is there anything i should get checked to make sure? It felt like quite a big bang but im hoping the tyre took the main impact and not any suspension it feels normal and no vibration or shaking

sorry to hear that :(

If its driving okay then its more than likely fine. however, with tires I think you can never be too careful, if there is any rubber damage the wall of the tire could be compromised. To be safe I would get the tire checked by a garage that you trust :)

Its literally just that little lip bit that pokes out and theres no exposed cords or anything like that.

Just really peeved off as to me i spent a lot of money on this car and to have it damaged by basically someone else is really annoying. on the plus side my reactions meant i dont need a new bonnet and wing and door etc lol

worse thing ia i actually think he was trying to race me

It is a very annoying situation to be in I bet. But like you say, your skill got you out of a much worse situation.

Like I say, I'm sure your car is 100% fine but for the cost of one tire I would just have it looked over whenever you can. a small nick out of the rubber in the wrong place can mean a blow out if the worst were to happen.

obviously I'm not trying to scare you/ make you not want to use your car tomorrow, but if you happen to pass a tire shop on your way tomorrow it might be worth a little look :)

To be honest ive done worse damage to a tire and still been to brands hatch and nurburgring lol

my dad waa going on about me possibly knocking the tracking out and it buggering the steering rack

ooooh! well in that case, I'm sure its fine. I am just a bit edgy over tires due to the amount of slow punctures mine pick up living in the middle of nowhere :p

if its still driving okay and you dont notice any difference your probably fine :)

a bit off the topic... but what did you take round brands hatch if you dont mind me asking? often wondered if they have slow days for cars like mine (1.2)

140bhp saxo vts :) very fun and even forced an m3 to pull over to let me past :)
What bhp is your little 1.2? To be honest the indy circuit is quite easy and more a cornering track than a power circuit so you should be fine both times i was there it was mainly saxos and 106s and mx5s etc so you should be fine really plusbyou havebpaddock hill
And a few other downhill bits that will make up for low power. Not great driving and camera angle but my first proper day there is on youtube search saxo vts vs m3 brands indy...

Im very protective of this car as the saxo i didnt care so much ifbi broke it when i have a baby boy and have to travel in it to work each day a 6 and a half grand car is a lot of moneybto me

That video looks great fun! nice little track there :) might have to see if I can get the twingo, or something faster down there. My twingo has 60bhp (not tested or anything, its standard) if the insurance and funds wasn't an issue for me, it would have been done up by now. the first thing it desperately needs is lowering as the body roll is just shocking.

I used to have a saxo! it was a fantastic little car, it was a 1.4 i got for £550, brilliant fun to chuck around and plenty of poke as i used it for a works car (no back seats, spare wheel or rear plastics cos they would have only got damaged anyway) .. unfortunately it ended up in the scrappers as it blew a clutch and needed welding also.
I know what you mean about being protective over your car, mine wasnt as expensive but it was a massive amount of money for me, but after being in a nasty crash in a mates 106, I went for safety over power.

Here is the best car I owned:

It is a good circuit esp for a beginner paddock hill is immense you cant see it in the video but off the track ita huge almost looks like a mountain or something!

I had a 1.4 106 before the twingo so basically the same as your saxo i whacked on some raptor 14" for more grip and you could literally slide that thing round everywhere i think thats where clios and saxos etc differ they are very much rally cars and the twingo clioa etc are better track cars imo

with regards the wheel its driven to work fine and its probably done absolutely nothing but because in my head i thought it was a fair whack i swear im imagining theres something wrong when there isnt i think a trip to get the tracking checked at the weekend may put my mind at ease. Left some nice black and scrape mark on the roundabout kerb though i noticed today :)

******* micras!

ooh thats good to hear about the successful drive to work, if it isnt pulling or anything I would think youve got away without any damage.
I know what you mean about saxo's/ clio's they seem to be nice and controllable on a slidey drive. I've had 3 clios.... I'm still getting use to the twingo after owning it for almost a year as in places it reacts completely differently. one day I think I will go back to an old style clio as they have been my favourite cars.

the last one was accident repaired hence how new it is, it cost me under a grand to buy and fix

Bargain! Shows your love of the renaults lol

shame they didnt make a warm clio as the 172 is still pretty expensive to insure i guess they have addressed that now with the GT

i still think my saxo handled better than the twingo but then it was on bilsteins

It was a beast of a car once fixed, really looked the part. best bit abotu it was the damage was never recorded before i bought it, so I got £1700 trade in against the twingo :)

I was thinking about an onder style clio 1.6 RSI, with a few tweeks I reckon that could be a fairly nice car.
The saxo I had was much more composed and settled on motorways and faster drives than the twingo. shame the gearbox was a bit "crunchy" due to some knackered plastic linkages.

I think a vtr is 90% of the fun of a vts without the added expense. For a first time track car cant go wrong imo

saxos handle better on 14's or 15's imo

as slow as my 1.4 106 was the ability to cock its back wheel literally a whole fotlot off the road was hilarious and got some right weird looks!

That reminds me i have a set of 106 morettes in the attic to sell as well as strut braces and wheels and lights lol

if i were rich i would literally own every french car in existence!

Sucks doesnt it all the rich people have no idea how to spend their money and just drive around ina bloody s class or something

ooo this has got me wanting to replace the saxo now. im sure there is a place to make some cash out of those bits and pieces you have there :). I know what you mean, I would be at the auctions every week buying old french hatches just for fun if i had the cash. Cant beet an underpowered 90's frenchie to enjoy thrashing around for a while :D
I am seriously tempted looking around on autotrader at some more interesting cars! love the idea of another fixer upper like my old clio.

Id say a vtr would be the best bet for that one as theres literally still tons of them around!

Easy to find parts too as i think every scrap yard in the world has a saxo in it lol

I quite like an unmolested vts I would have one in a heart beat in the nice red they come in. In fact maybe a replacement for the 133?

I'm leaning towards a late example saxo vts to possibly replace my twingo. the twingo is still worth a good chunk of money (i think) so i was thinking of getting rid, putting some money towards the house, then the rest on a saxo.

ooo plans!

They are a bit quicker than an rs twingo but not so much that i think its worth the insurance grp15 rating.

Plus side is they can be picked up cheap bad side is that they are like novas were picking up a decent one can be hard.

Awesome aweeome track cars though
