Simple and to the point, who would win, in a straight line, and or track. 133 or polo gti. Had an encounter with one today and was even till it got to 90 and I backed off

Polo gti would be quicker top end as the later polo gti's are 1.8 turbo depeneds what age the polo was. If it was a early one there wouldn't be a lot in it at all

I guess in a straight line the Polo would eat the 133 for breakfast. 180 horses, 250nm, and a DSG gearbox are just faster then a 133. Until le wild corner appears. Then all of a sudden the 133 outperforms the polo with to much horses.

that would just be my guess though, only based on simple claimed notes by factories. Your experience tells a different story! pretty much what happened to me the other day. a Mercedes Vito V6 wanted to sprint. he had 250 horses, but my 133 was faster in the first 3 gears. That was the point I backed off.

Well I've not driven the gti but I have the fabia vrs. Smooth but wierd gear box. Interior is well made but bland. Only 5 door which was annoying. I floored it on the dual carriageway off a roundabout I took the same line i do in the 133 and booted it. And hit 67 by The same point I did 66 in the 133. Which surprised me. Since it felt much faster in a straight too. Cornering it's not bad but does roll much more, there's certainly some grip there though

There's a polo gti in my town that I want to compare against but haven't seen him driving when I am. I'm pretty sure in a straight line the polo will win but on the cornering side of things I'm not sure.

How many more do you need?

Less would be nice! 3 door hatch or at least hide them and don't make it look like a van

Well it depends what you call quicker at what?

A straight line, probaly not but then again, any fruitcake can push down the pedal in a straight line.

The look of your car may have confused him and made him think he was getting chased by a shrunken monster nissan juke so he had to get away :D

Hmm, :x i know it looks diffent but I learnd to love it, the polo seems the same to 90, Then I backed off, think on a track the 133 will have the edge. Loving the the twingo best car on he road of you ask me, despite the looks.

133 should have it in the corners i had a play with a audi a3 2.0 he had the power on the straights but i caught him at ever corner

Depends which model GTI.

The current one is a 1.8T with 180bhp, DSG and all that so it would eat a 133 up. The previous model was the same 1.8T engine but 147bhp so a bit closer but no doubt a fair bit more torque than the 133.

The previous shape Polo GTI to that (around 2002) has a 1.6 with 125bhp same as the Lupo GTI only weighs a bit more than a Twingo and similar 0-60 time too. I'd still have my money on the Twingo though in that case. :)

Alex the current is not a 1.8t it's the 1.4 tfsi engine. And from what I've heard from a few people is its got it's issues, heard horror stories of things like 7 litres of oil in 1500 miles and new turbos and engine replacements. But it's a radical design and bound to have teething issues so perhaps they've cracked them now.
Least the 133s engine has had years and years to work it's faults out!

Apparently they're rubbish for remapping too as the supercharger physically cannot take anymore power.

Concept of a turbo supercharged engine is great just not refined yet

Bet it remaps better than a 133 ;)

It's not a particularly new concept

Just out of interest what faults did the 133 engine have? Its the same engine as the clio 1.6 16v is it not? With a few tweeks?

If the 1.4 is the same as in the audi's it's indeed horrendous. I've seen those engines with only 50.k km on the clocks with completely destroyed cylinderheads. I don't know too much about automitive technology, but appearantly the engines can't handle the pressure the turbo / supercharger delivers.

the 6N2 polo GTi would be slower than the 133 I'd imagine. Noticed a big difference in acceleration when I moved from that to the lighter Lupo GTi which as mentioned had the same 1.6 16v 125hp engine. Not sure how the more powerful but heavier newer Polo GTi's would compare..

Well one consistently ran 6.9 at pod I saw so in a straight line at least the current would be much quicker. The last shape too, didn't one member have one with like 230 horses from the 1.8t?
