My socket set (thanks nan) lol set up my little work station by pushing the seats forward (so handy)

Used a 10mm socket to undo the one simple bolt and then pulled the unit out

Now see how dirt always streams down here first lol

The stripes defo make it look all the better! I'm really pleased with mine! Did it say anything on the box about polishing and waxing? Never really known what to do about them!

Yea they definately do, the only thing it said was not to put the car through a carwash for 24hrs, however looking at the material they are made out of I'd say don't wax them as they are bobbly so it will stain them, never polish them either, just use your normal shampoo to clean them :) they are such high quality they shouldn't need the wax put on them like normal vinyl, hope this helps

mer bumper and vinyl cleaning gel works really well, gives them a nice shine.

Looks more and more like mine every day lol.

It's often hard not to get polish/wax on the stripes so you will have stains over time. they also dry differently to the car so expect it to look different after every wash. As above, a bumper care gel works perfectly on them or if you want an ultimate shine from them (and this looks awesome) - Tyre shine. Only problem with that is they are really oily then so don't touch them...

Get some chemical guys wet look trim gel. All in one wonder that will do interior plastics, external plastics, vinyl and tyres and is possible the best detailing product I ever stumbled upon.

I wouldn't use any of the suggestions so far myself :) non of them are suited to protecting vinyl tbh. They also won't last long and will allow the vinyl to get dirty as they're oil based dressings

what would you suggest then james?

Well in my personal arsenal of goodies, I think I might go for zaino zcs or wolfs body wrap

Christ, they're expensive products.

It doesn't state anywhere that they are specifically designed for maintaining vinyl though, what makes them better than the chemical guys wet look gel?

They last much, much longer than any product suggested so far, and are most suited as well as the fact you use sooo very little they're quite cost effective. Vinyl wrap is not the same as rubber bumpers etc and doesn't get treated the same from a detailing point of view.

Chemical guys new look trim gel is oil based and not suited to that kind of application

How long would a coat of either of those products last? Let's say a car left outside against the elements every day. Dust, rain, sun as well as driving etc.

Wolfs for months and months, it's nano based and also self cleaning to an extent.

ZCS isn't quite in the same league but it's wipe on walk away so very, very easy to use. Looking at a good few months out of it

As the chemical guys is only a dressing, it's not gonna last more than a few weeks. As far as dressings go for rubber etc, it is very good

Was gonna say, chem guys lasted for about month on mine with the car living outside. Cheers for the info.

It's not really designed for that kinda job, the job it is designed for though it does very well!

There are hundreds of products out there that will do the job quite happily, those 2 were only products which i personally would choose as I happen to quite like both

Im just going to wash them as usual, there really thick and high quality and dont look like they need to be specially looked after, so I think just a normal wipe over would be best

I noticed this morning after the rain that I got a bit of polish on the surround by the wing mirror, and a bit on the stripes on the bonnet. Presumably intense scrubbing with shampoo will get it off?! :-(
