Wind to Twingo RS

I've already did a insurance simulation of a Twingo RS RB7 and its not that much more expensive then what I'm paying now (about 50€ extra).

I called a Renault garage and said how they handel a re-finance. It all depends, how much your car is worth, how much you still have to pay for your loan and which car you want to buy.

Said I was interested maybe in a 133 (specificially an RB7) and he said that its already a waiting period of 3 months..

...as on a TCE wind I get quotes around the £2300 mark. On an RS twingo they're around the £1000 mark. I'm 18 (however basing the policy on when I turn 19)

 That's really surprising. As my 133 Wind is not classed as an 'RS' it's just above £140 per year. On your maths, they would have to pay me to driver the RS Twingo. :D

140£ a year? This is for a full covered insurance?

Ok it's been awhile since I've checked insurance quotes but the Wind still costs me more than a RS. That's for me aged 18

Go compare is the best one to check out. When I was 20 I insured mine for £690. Done a Quote recently and it came back to £550 and I'm only 21! FYI that is for 1 yr fully comp 3 yrs NCB.

However I say that a lot of it depends where you live. My mate lives about 15 mins away and to insure the same car where he lives costs an extra £160!!

It's okay, I wasn't doubting you. The English language gives plenty of scope for that when necessary. ;)

If they gave me the same difference, then they'd have to pay me nearly £30.

Oh boy, what am I getting myself into..

Ran into the boss of a Toyota garage at work that was coming to pick up cars for maintenance (yes at the Toyota technical centre, garages come to your work to service your car) and I asked, mockingly, how much they'd give for my car when I'd be interested in a GT86..
She replied, come to our garage, normally we'll be closed by then but we'll stay open a little longer just for you.

Curious what price they'll offer me..

If its drops around the 23000€ mark DO IT else i will buy it  and that GT86 is a pure drivers car to bad we dont have alot of winding roads to get the full potential out of it :(

and i do wonder what price they will give you

I will be getting a GT86 at some point, but just have no where to put it at the moment, so cannot buy one.

As for not having a lot of driving roads, you have the Ardennes - which I'm more than happy to travel 200 miles to play on.

Could always ask (if its too much) if they have a showroom or courtesy model for sale. They're usually cheaper due to being 'used'.

Only if there is over-supply. Prices have only dropped £2k in the UK, and there's only1/2 a dozen for sale - most still at full new price.

You will often get better credit terms on a new car via the manufacturer, than you can from a dealer for secondhand - whic sometimes means paying less for a newer car.

i wouldn't swap a wind for a 133 of any variety, what age are you? insurance companies are very strange. i got quoted 1,340 for a 1.6L honda civic EJ. i then got quoted 570 for an 585 brake silvia s14 how mad is that??? only a 2Litre engine nothing fancy.

As you said Araf, a GT86 is 31000 € in Belgium and I could get one for 28000/29000 €.

I was shocked though how much they wanted to give for my car. The salesman looked at it and he said he never seen a Wind and that it was in excellent condition.

He then phoned to people to who they sell cars to and was really telling them over the phone that it's in a very good condition.
The first one was willing to give a good 8000 € for it, the second one merely 6000€.. I like his honesty as he said, "Seeing how good your car looks, that must hurt a little bit if I may say so myself".

I asked if they sold their showroom/test car but it was too early for that.

Just for kicks, Saturday I'm going to Renault and see what deal they give me for a red Twingo 133, non cup suspension with/without sunroof.

Then again, my mom said to wait for another 1,5 year until its the car show again in Belgium and look for some very good deals.

I think they could have done a little better than 10% for you. Don't you have a car buying scheme at work?

BTW, your mum is right, but she's not the youngster than needs everything to happen NOW!

that is what I'm gonna do wait for the car salon 2014 and hopefully they can make a nice deal and I will not sell gordini cause my dad would love to have it ;)
But I said if you want my old car you will have to chip in for the new one :D else no deal :p

She had also never had to pay for a car in her entire life.. she always had someone that provided a car for her so she's too careful when it comes down to buying cars. She was also giving me the economical rant for Ford Genk factury getting shut down in our country (over 4500 people losing their job) and that Belgium is going to become like Spain & Greece..

Moms..

She speaks sense.

You have other priorities currently (as your first post pointed out)

Your industry is changing and job security isn't guaranteed

It's not impossible to do everything you want and to get what you want but I do think your car is perfectly fine as it is and you wouldn't get anything from a 133 you don't already have

I guess she does and this morning, even my girlfriend said that I should keep my car even though she called it a 'chav' car the first time she saw it.. (we hated eachother when we met the first time :p ) But she doesn't know better, she's lucky if she can tell what color a car has, let alone the brand
