By the way JE_GT you were right, just took them off and you do need to bond them to the old ones, there is nowhere they could bond to on the back on the mirror carcass

Would anyone be able to tell me how to take off the existing caps please? I've got some replacement ones ready for painting and I can see four clips on the inside (plus another clip on the arm part of the cover) but I can't work out how you would get them to release on the original cover to take it off?
 
I used a screwdriver to lever the clips then used force haha, can't help much more than that!

Did they snap/crack in the process though? From the design of the replacement they look like they would snap if not released somehow?
