ok, after a long hard battle ive had some kid of result. RUK have given me a cash settlement of £100 which arrived today.

the dealer offered me a tow eye from the tool kit when he rang, if i was in the showroom i would of punched him the £W@£

still leaves me without a tow eye but may be able to sort something

for £80 i will sell you mine

(still £20 profit for you ;) ).

Glad you've got some variety of solution in the end. Pity it's had to come from RUK and coop haven't pulled their finger out.

Omg. To add insult to injury. Just when I thought everything had been sorted my BMC filter is also missing from the last service they did and a standard Renault one is in it's place and a none Renault oil filter has been fitted. Yet another phonecall with RUK is taking place as we speak. Heads are gonna roll

This is getting just down right appalling. From all the things I've heard (and experienced) from the co-op motor group I'm fairly shocked they're still running and allowed to be official dealers.

RUK should definitely be sending a batch of mystery shoppers out their way. (Although that might be a bad idea as they'll have to pay again to get their cars fixed after the co-op have seen them)

The guy I just spoke to said they are good dealers and have a good reputation

Did you manage to get a good outcome from this Davey? Since there's nothing else on here I presume you got all-right service from Renault Chesterfield too?

After a long fight, RUK have given me £100 so I'm in profit but without a towing eye so I'm a bit gutted about that. I will be getting a replacement bmc filter soon as though

Forgot to say. Renault chesterfield were ace. Sorted out my traction control and had a loan car waiting for me when I didn't even ask for one. Will be going back there in future

I know this is probably going to sound really anal, but I've had trouble like this with the nottingham Renault dealer (The branch name escapes me atm).

My clio has quite a few extra's like window wind deflectors and the body skirts (SX edition)

I took it in for its service 2 years ago and left it with them overnight (as i usually do because i get 2 cars serviced there at the same time)

When i went to pick it up the next day it was being stored inside. and the drivers window was half down
and my car was unlocked ....

I asked why and they said it was because they had just moved it. Fair enough ...

When i got home i had a look around the car and noticed that one of my wind deflectors had been snapped! and that both (passenger and drivers side) Bodykits (sills) had cracks in them (roughly 12 inches long)

I took my car straight back and complained about the damage that has blatantly wasn't there when it went in. (my car is spotless)

They said that it was nothing to do with them ...

Luckily i had taken fairly detailed photos of my car the day before (as i had cleaned and polished it before it went it!) and they were time/date stamped.

I shown these photos to renault and they then changed there mind and accepted the damaged.

It turned out that what they do to jack up the SX edition clios on the finger type jacks (lifts from the sills, takes weight of the wheels) is to put small wooden blocks on the jack points as the fingers of the lift are not tall enough to reach the points with out touching the plastic body kit.

They forgot to use the wooden blocks ...

This meant that my car was raised using the plastic bodykit (wish is held on with only 4 Plastic bolts!) and is only a few MM's Thick !!

Thankfully by some form of miracle, the guy underneath the car doing the checks etc wasn't CRUSHED !! when the bodykit finally gave way ...

The reason why the window was half open was because the wind deflector had some how got snapped when they were working on my car. This stopped the window from closing ...

And the unlocked bit of this ... because the window wouldn't shut, the alarm kept going off ... so they left it unlocked ... the reason why they left it locked up inside (the only thing I'm glad they did!)

How ever, when i took my car back i was parked next to a black "SX" (They're kinda rare being that theres only 800 or so of them) and i noticed that his body kit was also cracked in the same way that mine was !! i can only hope he got it fixed.

My car did get a two new body sills fitted and painted, and two new wind deflectors (Strangly they also found a dint to remove in the passenger door that not even i noticed)

Moral of the story .... Take Detailed pictures before your car goes in for service (I now do this) as its your word against yours, and there word is bigger than yours!

Should i make a new topic for this when i remember the name of the dealer ?

Update ... It was "Sunwin" Nissan/Renault at Basford Nottingham.

Oh man that sounds like a right nightmare!!! At least it got sorted in the end. not looking forward to my first service at all! Everyone seems to have such hit and miss service!!

i think I'm going to make a new topic in the "name and shame" section for that post as its kinda long ...

I think the best thing to do is just check over your car before and after they have serviced it.

Make sure you know what it is that they will be doing it so you can at least visually check it (Oil, water, Coolant, Brake Fluid, air filter etc) so you know if they have actually done there job that your paying them to do.

I make sure they know that i dont want my car washing by them. as they only put it though a auto washer with mine ...

Make sure they do a visual inspection check list before hand, (this is were they come out to your car and go round it with YOU and mark down any visual damage on a 2d drawing. you then need to sign it to say that your happy with it. You need a copy of it.

Sometimes they do this with out you being there. and some have been know to make changes to it as damage happens, this gets they off the hook as they say it was already there and they have proof ...

Other than doing them things I've said ... you've pretty much just got to leave them to it. unless your able to do it all yourself ...

Sunwin Renault Nottingham caused me all sorts of problems with my last car too. Had to fight to get it put right also. I now drive over to Smiths at Peterborough who are really good.
