Ok, well i have spent the night thinking about what to do with the twingo (sell it etc...)

My plan is now:

- Keep the twingo for another year (365 days) Get its first MOT out of the way and then sell it.
- Spend this year saving up as much as possible and then get a diesel german car something nice and more refined.
- I will be 21 in a years time so hopefully insurance will have reduced a fair bit too!

I know a year away is a bit far but currently im looking at the following as potential new cars (wide range i know):

- BMW 1 series
- BMW 3 series
- Audi A1
- Audi A3
- VW Golf
- VW Scirocco
- Audi TT
- Mini Cooper

I will see what's about in a years time and make my mind up then but i feel its good to know where im heading etc.

Any comments/further car suggestions are welcomed :)

you might also find that after a year of working your new job your twingo is suitable and because you love it so much you want to keep it :) you might also find that its not suitable and want to get rid of it before you pay out more tax mot etc...

If you are 100% positive that you want a diesel, personaly i wouldnt consider buying TT (is there a diesel version anyway?), Scirocco and Mini. But thats just because it doesnt seem right to me to have those cars in diesel

Good choice mate!!!
I want to save up for a BMW 1 Series ///M Coupe : )
I will hopefully be able to buy it in the middle of 2013 : )

Agree ,Im not a fan of diesel at all but each to their own hey :D

Sounds like a sensible approach and you've made some good choices there. I've been fond of the 120d coupe for a few years now, and a TT with the diesel engine in is great, but all good choices

good thinking mate, seems like the right way to go.

plus in a years time u will prob find u have more cash and are using your car more for pleasure and so u can be looking at petrol sport versions rather than dirty, dodgy diesels

haha... true..true :p

I guess i will just have to see how things go!

Does diesel really work out cheaper these days? It's more expensive like for like to get the car, the diesel is a lot more expensive too. With the way it's going a small petrol is just as good on fuel anyways

u find that it does still just about work out cheaper due to the mpg returns but to get those numbers u find u have to drive like a nun and end up just watching the trip all the time.

if u buy a "sporty" diesel as soon as u start putting your foot down i reckon u may as well have just bought the petrol version

I think im swinging more and more towards BMW 1series 118D M Sport Convertible in sapphire black with red leather interior

YUUUMMM!!

In a years time hopefully!

Keep it for 4 - 5 years

seems to work out financially based on my current model.

Exactly, and petrols are getting more and more economical all the time that really there's not much between them. People just seemt o like the lazy power delivery from a diesel for motorway cruising. Only advantage I can see

they must listen to cr*p music and so like the fact that the diesel knock drowns it out

rob i never liked the 1 series but since watching top gear and seeing the M i want one

I've always had a sweet spot for it.

the M looks sweet as anything!!!

Well we're talking about the msport package, not the m :p if you get it. PLEASE take all the M badges off. It's not an M  my grandad's old 5 series was an msport and had m badges and a personal reg which had m5 somewhere in it. And it was tacky and horrible.

What about an Audi A1- can be done up well nice check out a pic of my mates (wheels have been replaced now) not sure if they do em in diesel but expect they do!

I am considering it (See first post 3rd option down)

They do a nice 1.6TDI engine in them

Seems like you've thought out a good plan and as long as your happy thats what you wanna do.

Only thing I would say about your list of potential cars is, do you not want something that isnt as common as muck, I always feel thats whats nice about the 133 and when I had my 200 (just my opnion of course!)
