I think that the only places which actively encourage racing are drag strips and properly licenced motorsport events. Racing at a track day will get you kicked off and banned. Racing on the public roads is just iresponsible at any time and endangers you and others as well as potentialy the reputation of the club if theres a bunch of stickered Twingos acting like a bunch of *****.

I was presuming in this thread (from the OP) that it's to do with a drag race challenge now at POD.

But agree with you on your opinions of racing on the road (being bad)

No one overtook James trust me. I completely agree with the keep it on the track essay part. It was just this section off road as in the convoy dubz kept up quiet well with the acceleration but what not off the line.

Personally it seems to me some times non RS owners have something to prove.

Obvisously it is fun 'beating' a car that should out gun yours, but if you are endangering people to do so there is no win in who has the biggest balls.

As Neil has said, fully agree and the voice of reason as ever, I wasn't there, so probably shouldn't comment, My point is, lets have a laugh, arrange a 'Pod day and have some fun.

I agree hence we need this pod day

A pod day would be a good day out as well. Im all up for it, be nice to get some faces to names before FCS

Just to make it clear we wasn't driving like complete idiots we respected the rules of the road and drive to the conditions. The banter has started because There we're some corners on a short drive which were open visibility and slower speeds where we could show the 133's strengths and dubz's car showed it was not a 133 that is all.

Edit: I'm sure James, Jay and dubz will all say the same

Oooops. My bad, so just had a read back. Though two 133's were passed and James wasn't due to Dubs not knowing the way, otherwise it would have been 3. So my analogy of a car going 60 will beat one (or two) doing 55 still stands.

A RWYB down Santa Pod stip day would certainly put some figures to the story but we all know the outcome before it starts. Even without realy trying, its obvious that the only thing my Mrs 1.2 can beat the Dini with is the mpg figures ;)

No car was overtaken at all. Not one in convoy and not any other road user except on dual carriageway.

Dubz is willy waving with a really small willy, metaphorically speaking.

Joking apart, whos up for organising a 'Pod day. I cant organise putting my own clothes on in the morning (fly was undone for about three hours at work before I noticed this morning), so it maybe better if someone else has a punt.

Still would love to see some RS vs GT action as well.

I know its a massive trek but you should come on the evo triangle run in may. Going to be awesome
the 3 hour drive and high chance of working is making it look doubtful for me. If James goes and I'm not working I may show my face

Come on James, it hinges on you

lol not just on him, my work to. Oh and the fuel costs lol

Ok so a little snippet from the MK/Oxford Meet as lead car for most of the convoy I can't comment fully on the goings on behind me!

In my personal opinion the DRIVER of a car in convoy needs to be aware of various factors:
Speed
Road Positioning
Vehicle Awareness

Speed:
First off a RS is designer for this and will handle accordingly, if your vehicle is not set up for cornering forces that these RS models are equipped to do then you should not be doing said Speed. Yes we are on public roads so the National speed limit should be adhered too. If for example a vehicle decides to go for a "little burn" as we all do. Then its the Driver of other vehicles choice to follow or not, that is down to experience and maturity.

Road Positioning:
I am aware of vehicles around me and how to drive in accordance with certain criteria set else where. If that means that i enter a corner on the worng side of the road this is for a smooth entrance and smooth power delivery on the exit. THIS IS NOT the norm for entering a corner and should not be taken as a clear passage by any vehicle in convoy that the route ahead is clear. If i do it i can see whats coming and the question being can you?

Vehicle Awareness:
When traveling in Twingos. ask yourself how many you actually see on the roads, and any group of cars draws attention NO MATTER WHAT MAKE OR MODEL. with my car I have stickers relating to the club on the windows and this is very very obvious. So remember if you start driving like a tool and gesturing out of the window this does not only bring a downer on the club but in the eyes of the law, you are causing harm/distress to other road users and can be dealt with accordingly.

In convoy try to stick in groups of comparable models, why play with a Meganne if your in a Twingo, simple fact of if it can enter a corner with 20mph on you, do you think you can come out the corner with it, simple answer of NO. If you do happen to get in the middle of a convoy its your choice to drive to YOUR LIMIT and not to the limit of others. E.g. I drive fast and I admit I exceed certain speed limits, but i know if someone like Chicken is following, he WILL NOT attempt to follow if he doesn't feel he has the ability to control his vehicle.

At the end of the day its your car and your knowledge. I admit I drive fast and as big headed as it sounds i can control it if it goes wrong (thats been taught to me) so ask yourself this "IF I LOOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE CAN I SAFELY BRING IT UNDER CONTROL WITHOUT ENDANGERING OTHERS"

No problem. as I said, i wasn't there, just knew that 133's were passed by the i-music monster, hence putting
Wizzing past the convoy leader may have been good fun and actualy a safe manouver at the time, but it does show bad etiquet
In the convoy to last years FCS, I was at the back. The car infront, (a 1.2) got caught at the trafic lights, leaving two of us behind and rapidly loosing sight of the main group untill the lights changed. Once we got a green light, I nipped past, to get a visial of the last car on the main pack whilst keeping the 1.2 in my mirror untill they caught up again. So, yes it can be safe and usefull to pass whilst on convoy but only (imo) when it is truly safe and realy only when required

Dubs could organise ;)

Uhhh is it a bad thing I didn't realise you went fcs and can't remember your face?

Is there anyway that thread can be deleted and someone then make a santa pod meet thread? I just feel if someone reads this thread it could give the club a bad name due to what is being discussed and from what I've read of your comments you have not understood what occurred which means others may think the same. Not trying to sound harsh on you not understanding as maybe it the way I have described it but we stuck to the rules of the road and no overtaking or "racing" occurred.

Although I feel the truth is now out, that the imfamous overtake was safely done on a bit of dual cariegeway, so this actualy clears up the misconception that there was any sillyness going on and it was actualy well organised and driven.

Well done James and co :)

Anyway, as he hasn't commented, wheres Dubs?

James' essay is spot on. Sums everything up nicely. I like how you had to put in about if your not confident in something then don't do it and made me the example thanks. (true though)
And I agree with Neil. Dubz where the heck are ya

Ok so this thread was created primarily for the purpose of a bit of banter, and its strayed into a whole no ball game!!

I don't think it needs to be deleted, as the meet and also the road craft 95% of the time was perfect, I think it will serve as a good reminder that we all represent the club in either a convoy or out driving your car later. Its an eye opener for some of those who feel that anything goes. If this just makes 1 in ten members think about their standard of driving then the battle is won.

So back to dubz slapping down syndrome as i think it should be classed now! As it was/had been getting out of hand, with most threads turing into who's wiener is bigger!

SO guys/gals keep the driving safe and the banter alive!!

Im bringing the mg with a little surprise ;)

Will show all u french car owners who the daddy is.

Yes weebob, im coming for u too
