So finally got the car out of the back room on Friday night! Got it on the ramp late Saturday morning, and the work began!
Made a dogbone up finally! Using the original mounting point on the subframe and the original point on the engine block. Will need to press in new bushes most likely as they were slightly worn. But it holds the engine in a perfect spot.
Picked up an exhaust system for a 225 in 2.75” bore. After I put this up to the car it wouldn’t fit through the subframe gap. Exhaust will be 2.75” turbo back.
Had to bring it back down and get the grinder back out.
Took some more out the subframe and then welded a patch back in, link pipe now fits perfectly in the gap. Also sorted the gear linkages, they’re slightly too long as you’d expect but they work perfect still.
So after this I filled the gearbox up with OE ELF oil (75-80) and then bolted all the subframe up, wishbones, anti roll bar etc.
Had to modify the passenger link rod between the wishbone and chassis as the gearbox is wider. Filled up the cooling system and bled it through.
Ran the car up to temperature and the fan cut in just when it should’ve. Pulling cold air through the radiator into the engine bay.
I actually drove the car out of the workshop and around the forecourt! So it moves ha.
Also fitted a new genuine cup spoiler
Fitted the wing mirrors, but need to paint them black. Got the fog light surrounds and bumper badge but need to paint them black also.
