Certainly a nipy little beast

I'm just back from a mornings drive out, round one of my favourite loops, but decided to cut it a bit short and head home instead, which ended up with me following a Dini 100 for the last 10 miles into town.

I was quite prepared for a long haul back to town, but with a sniff of open road it was off uphill passing a slow Sunday driver, leaving me to drop a couple of cogs to give chase. I don't normaly use all the revs, as I mainly use the peak torque and try to be fairly smooth. However I needed to get all the power from the 133 to get back on equal terms now the stage was set for a brisk finish to the morning

Being cold and wet with a fair amount of standing water about, the 100 looked fairly well planted through the corners which I suspect were taken with some caution as he slowed down a bit more than I expected. For me, the winter tyres were cutting through the standing water exceptionaly well, RS suspension making for an easy catch whilst pushing on through the bends with the traction control never blinking but, the ABS kept pattering away under my foot when braking firmly from speed reminding me that traction wasn't brilliant.

Without a fair amount of room or courtesy to allow an overtake, I think the 100Tce and RS133 are reasonably well matched for everyday road use and a 133 getting past a well driven 100 would be hard work. This may be a different story with the 133 ahead entering a twisty section or on a dry track where the RS chassis would probably outclass the GT based Twingo's.

I have a suspision it has been chipped and I'll be finding out in the next few days but if that was standard, it's not a bad wee motor. I had actualy seen this one for sale and thought about getting it for my Mrs. Wish i had now

Good speaking to you Garry(I hope I remembered correctly). You have the card so join up and keep in touch

i have seen that some chip tuners in belgium here can get 1.2 TCE up to 130HP and 195 TQ seems quite anoying that you bought a shouty RS engine but can get beaten by numbers with a 1.2 blown engine >_> by just being chipped.

im wondering to go to this chiptuner cause this chiptuner puts up these pictures on their site to show what result you can get , while others dont or even if you ask them in an email they wont give you any pictures or results cause its "confidential information" *insert swear word* >_>

You do get the extra benefits of the RS. Don't get me wrong the GT is awesome, plus highly mod-able etc, however for me, I prefer revvy n/a's, the 1.6 slots into that perfectly. Is not all about figures or actual performance, it's how it gets there that puts grin on my face.

I could of bought a GT that was on the forecourt when I got the RS, I knew of steve-io's car and what he had out of it from doing my research before i bought. i could of modded it to be a RS beater (straight line at the very least for the money) and it would of been cheaper, but yet I still bought the RS.

Steves pushing 140hp but it's not a simple remap. FMIC, boost controller CAI, exhaust as well as then needing uprated injectors due to the standrd ones being maxed out

Yup, I really doubt the graphs posted are a result of a simple mapping + upping the boost. It's claiming a peak of 135ish bhp and as stated Steve-io's has taken a lot of work.

In the same way you can 'prove' anything with a graph especially if promoting a product ;)

That's the thing that is awesome about the GT's there is room the play about, and you see gains for your money, if you start messing about with a n/a you are normally looking at big money for in comparison little gains.

I love to see what someone with the cash can get out of a RS, cams, itb's etc etc

I can hear your credit card screaming out from here.

It's saying "do it Neil" "use me"

Love the gt vs rs comments :p

I bought a 133 because it comes as a package (modded cars aren't typically insurance friendly in my experience) and cos it looks a hell of a lot nicer IMO. If I gt can kick my backside then so be it :p

Having spoken to the previous owner, hats off to the 100 1.2 Tce as it was standard, so a maximum of 100hp and probably 90hp+ between 4500rpm and the red line. I'm prety sure this was being kept on the boil, which is why I needed to change my driving style and use more revs than normal to catch up once the he started to pull off.

I normaly drive with the revs between 3000 and 4500rpm which makes use of the maximum amount of torque but not the maximum power. Yes, I do use the shift light occasionaly but certainly not everyday as theres no need for thrashing along on public roads everytime you go out, even for a play :?

Although all this only proves what we have known all along, in that the GT and therefore Gordini 100 is a good motor with a decent amount of power in standard form and potential to be tuned to levels that could compete or beat an RS133 in a straight run. But the bends would see the tables turned in favour of the Renault Sport chassis as appeared to be the case.

Absolutely. No doubt it's a fun motor and certainly no slouch. Quite well priced too

I'd love to see a showdown with the GT and 133 on a track and in a straight line to see how much of a difference there is and how much better the 133 is!

A Gt is better on pull off but top end the 133 is better

Ive never had the privellage to have some fun with a 133 but can't imagine there being a big gap pulling off between the two.

Anyone want some 50-70 runs on the dual carriageway to FCS? Keeping to the speed limits then

How does the GT feel compared to the RS through the bends, both fast flowing and sharper twisty stuff?
