Have you removed the heater vent assembly from the under side of the center surround? The flocking goes everywhere and I imagine it would still get into bits if it was masked up.

on the under side of the panel, you can see where the two bits are melt welded together. carefully cut away the minimum of the weld to allow the two bits to be pulled apart. Once flocked, clip back together and use some 5minute epoxy where you cut away the melted bits.

Already removed and in two pieces wrapped up to take the surround down tomorrow morning.

I was going to ask the best way to bond them back, I can't remember what I used on my gear surround but it didn't need to be substantial at all by comparison

In fact, iirc I melted Something as a semi plastic weld. Worked well and was pretty neat.

Just looked and I can't find it, but I think it was Spmethkng like a pen lid

Ill buy some epoxy as I used the last of my tube of plastic glue stuff the other day.

Bits are off ready to go to Simon tomorrow

I warn anyone looking to do this.... The air bag cover requires balls of steel! The rear clips are fiddly and force + explosives scares me somewhat

It was coming out anyway and it gave more space to take te cover off the air bag

I turned it off inside the door and was careful not to smack it, being well aware it's a box that could hurt.

It's fiddly getting all 5 clips off the back at the same time, as soon as I got one off and touched the others It would slip off. But I eventually got there.

Going down in a bit to drop them off, excited :D

I've now dropped the bits off at Thomas and vine so hope to see them again in about a week or so

My parts were completed today and are now curing. Will be ready to collect Friday

Are you still driving it without the dash parts in? thinking about doing this soon but i do a lot of miles so i don't want to be setting anything off!

Nothing exactly sharp protruding into the cockpit. It's not an issue really, the air bag is bolted back down.
