Erm, I live within 3 miles of the office  but I have to drive as I often have to go out to clients. That and many random trips around etc it all adds up :( i've decided to try and cut my mileage though! Didn't drive the car at all at the weekend, stayed in and watched all the great racing on the telly and got stuck into la noire :p

I've often wondered if you just don't like driving or cars in general with the amount you don't seem to drive :p

Mines on 12600 not too bad, got its first service this sat!

Fair play to you mate, I'm impressed as I thought you may just have some massive round trip to work haha

As for my cars, it's really not a concious effort to not drive them. It's purely down to having very little time. Considering i don't actually need one car let alone two. I mean I don't drive during the week at all as I commute into central London. It's then a case of specifically taking the Twingo out if I'm going for a drive, if the car is covered and I don't need to uncover it, it'll stay there. The Megane is behind the bloody Twingo haha, so it's a case of moving that to take the Megane.

I don't need them but I wouldn't be without either car.

Bit of a geeky one for you:

Mine hit 6254 the other day...

...and the miles left to next service indicator was also on 6254.

Does the twingo adjust it's mileage to the next service according to how it was driven? My old car if driven hard would count down the miles quicker than if driven softly for instance. Or is it set at 12,500 miles and no less?

Mine will no doubt get serviced early anyway, already on one oil change

I was told that the twingo will count down the miles quicker if driven harder

Nice - always appreciate when things like that happen :)

Would be intrigued to find out how true that is.

That said though, wouldn't it somewhat defeat the point of Renault setting a service interval?? As in somone may buy the car and be told it's 12k or 2 years. They thrash the pants off it and 18 months in it starts telling them it needs a service. So they march it back to the dealership and moan it's saying a service is needed 6 months early? :?

Admittedly it would make plenty of sense but it's not something I've ever heard of in previous RenaultSport models. For example my 225 has a service count down but it works on a timer rather than mileage. It started flashing up it's first service just as it approached a year but had about 11,000 miles less than an average car.

4K just clocked up today, from picking it up on 25th March... Of which I have only been onshore for 61 days.

Miles don't count down quicker depending on how the car is driven. Simple countdown thats all.

I hit 16k a couple days ago just after it's first birthday. Roll on 20k!

2 miles too slow  . That's either stonkingly slow, or you were going at one hell of a speed through the gap

so I had a look into this and I found in my drivers handbook page 1.53 there is a note saying - depending on the vehicle, the mileage before service changes according to the driving style (frequent driving at low speed, door-to-door journeys, extensive use at idle speed, towing a trailer etc.) The distance remaining until the next service can therefore decrease more quickly in some cases than the actual distance travelled.
