This is looking good. My friend and myself are looking into buying a cheap real wheel drive car to turn into a track car and are looking at a 1.8 mx5 do you know if there is anything to look for when buying one?

One major thing really... Rust. Take a look on mx5 Nutz, plenty of info on there and buying guides too

I agree with Matt, goes rusty around the sill and near the rear arch.

Apart from that, mechanically they're bomb proof.
Engine's non interuption timing so if it does go ping, it doesn't wreck your engine as the valves retract.

Just look out for the local neds slashing your top to get anything valuable inside...make sure the thing is STRIPPED and Imobilised every time you aren't with it :/

I'll be keeping it in a garage and only driving it on track so should be ok with stuff inside. Thanks for the pointers though :)

Taxed, tested and insured as of today ;) Loads of updates for this, just haven't had the time...

Well make time lol. Can't wait to see what you've done and how it looks now

Hmm it's been a while since this was updated. We've got loads of new stuff written and photos to share but I'll leave that for Elly as she's in charge of that :p

Here's a photo Elly took of me drifting at Santa Pod on Wednesday. You can see the car has gone through quite a transformation! :)

Haha no this was towards the end of the day when I was linking consistently. Other than boiling the steering fluid and coolant, nothing went wrong :)
