Weeeellllllllllll, time for some positives....

Got the car back, body work looks spot on.

The TDC sensor has been replaced, fix the conking out at speed problem so far which is awesome, was apprently reading the engine speed as 0 at point. Total cost = £0, Arnold Clark Blackpool didnt it for free so not to have to go though the pain of chasing the warranty company.

They even replaced the bulb that was out, Total Cost = £0.

And the inevitable negatives...

The flexi on the exhaust manifold has had it and is blowing, MOT is due on the 14th so trying to get it sorted. So far looking at £20-40 for materials and around 1h of £45 labour.

Will be worth it in the end, i think once its sorted you should get some dead cool dude from st snnes to machine polish it all one sunny dy and youl be in love with it again!

I dont know any of those ;)

Your on, Ill provide food drink etc.

Dont worry the car is staying, took it for a bit of a thrash last night and I simply love it. Its off form due to the exhaust leak but still awesome. Like the old dog you just cant bring yourself to 'take out back' and shoot in the face.

Good to hear you're back in love with it again, mine's sadly still on borrowed time.

Yours just needs to be more broken to give it what Clarkson would call 'a soul'

Looks like the garage has bitten off more than they are willing to chew. To get the manifold off, replace the flexis and put it back on they have rethought the quote... Wait for it...... £600!!!!

I have contacted Arnold Clark Blackpool who have said they can fit a new one for less than £500 and repairing the current will be way cheaper than that.

Chris, where is the Flexi located? is it a case of Manifold off or just downpipe? could it be a ramps and a lot of swearing at the unit i have access to job?

Cheers for the offer, its a manifold off job. Ment to be a pig as its at the back with very little room to maneuver.

Trying to chase it though the warranty at the mo. If I get nowhere the other option is to get a second hand or toyosports one and take you up on the offer.

Sounds like getting the 133 manifold out :( Do-able, but not easy/quick

that's it, the jobs not too bad, just a sod to sort due to location.... Especially as I need the car for work and mot is luming

The car is going in on monday to have the flexi replaced with new fexi or if they can solid piping, its not going to be perfect but will last till i can afford a complete exhaust.

Sitting waiting to get it back. Manifolds been done with some new flexi's and its passed its MOT with flying colours. Some country roads are going take a beating tonight.

Been a long slog but it looks like its back and in good health. I'll tot up the costs in a bit.

The costs don't add up. More in a bit
Cost / grin factor x man maths = sorted

Unless it doesn't make you smile anymore, how can they not add up?

Oh Christ does it make me smile. Went for a blast out. It is back in good favour.

I had it in my head that now, as it is working, is the ideal time to get shot of it. It's not happening.
