the white to the airbox or filter and the black to otherthing ^^ i think
I was just on about this with Matt, sothe_notorious_C_A_T":3r4yyp2c said:What's your verdict on the manifold? Or waiting until it's mapped with the rest of your goodies that you will be doing?
singlespeed":3r4yyp2c said:It was funny that we booked it into the garage for 3 hours and it was just short of 6 when it rolled back out (+ an hours lunch). That was with windy tools etc and a 4 point lift for good access. It would have been longer if they also lengthened the lambda cables, but I did them whilst Thomas was swearing at the Renault manifold, not wanting to fit out past the subframe
New system is prety good and the new manifold went in very easily. As I wanted the exhaust as high as possible, I had a few rattles to begin with , either when cold or after a good blast when the exhaust grows about 6-8mm and the backbox started hitting the rear hanger. Prety well sorted now. Sounds good, with a deep note and no drone when off the throttle... but quite a bit louder than the Supersprint

Heat reduction in this small engine bay is important, IMO.
But it looks & sounds awesome! Makes me wish I had the 1.6 so I could install this awesome stuff as well :?
The sound, how noisy etc is always going to be very subjective as everyones ears are different and up till now, the carbon airbox was probably louder than the exhaust. Now, it semls to be fairly evenly split between induction and exhaustBikNorton":36z8n8se said:Doesn't sound all that loud from the video (but it does sound nice, not farty at all like most small engine jobs); what's it like inside - particularly cruising at 70?
mmm, it doesnt sound that loud to my ears either. little pop on gear change and a bit throaty tho. may be remove that middle silencer, if ones fitted? not sure on the slash cut tail pipe... :|BikNorton":wbwi62uh said:Doesn't sound all that loud from the video (but it does sound nice, not farty at all like most small engine jobs); what's it like inside - particularly cruising at 70?

Admittedly not Radio 1, but I need to set mine to minimum 20 to comfortably hear speaking or music on Real XS, CDs more like 25!singlespeed":oztw266b said:BBC R1 news reports (normaly a fairly standard volume broadcast) can still be followed at 10-12 volume at 70mph when off throttle/cruising at constant speed
looking at the k tec site pics of the system, they dont do a straight through middle section, tho good to hear the rear tail pipe is clamped on, should it need changing so which is loudest, supersprint or k tec?singlespeed":1d2466ux said:slim":1d2466ux said:mmm, it doesnt sound that loud to my ears either. little pop on gear change and a bit throaty tho. may be remove that middle silencer, if ones fitted? there is one and its quite big not sure on the slash cut tail pipe..the tip is clamped on, so easy to change if you wanted. :|BikNorton":1d2466ux said:Doesn't sound all that loud from the video (but it does sound nice, not farty at all like most small engine jobs); what's it like inside - particularly cruising at 70?
I'm interested in lack of volume, primarily. Wanting it to not sound like a Barryed-up Corsa comes second.markhardy":38r44s4x said:Why is noise so important?...
Currently running 17" cup wheels and 205/40/17 BF Goodrich profillers.BikNorton":2xq8qfxl said:Admittedly not Radio 1, but I need to set mine to minimum 20 to comfortably hear speaking or music on Real XS, CDs more like 25!singlespeed":2xq8qfxl said:BBC R1 news reports (normaly a fairly standard volume broadcast) can still be followed at 10-12 volume at 70mph when off throttle/cruising at constant speed
Edit: Ah, but you've got smaller wheels and wider tyres...
The New K-tec system is cetainly louder than the catback Supersprint by a fair margin. The volume from the Supersprint being comparable to standard levels or quieter with the rear two sections connected to the renault front pipe and slightly louder but still very livable with the full system as it has a large backbox and standard 50mm pipework.BikNorton":2xq8qfxl said:I'm interested in lack of volume, primarily. My stock car is already more than noisy enough at 70; that's largely road noise and 15" wheels should help. At 80, intake/engine noise take over and a longer 5th will help with that.
I do want to increase torque though, which will mean intake, exhaust, possibly cams if they provide a good increase, and a remap. My choices here, if I ever make any, will be at least partially guided by noise.
That's weird; mine comes on at 15 and I always have to turn it up. :? Hardly critical though!singlespeed":37q5cb2p said:Currently running 17" cup wheels and 205/40/17 BF Goodrich profillers.
20 is plenty loud and 25 would be getting silly. And i'm cat 2 deaf mid range :?
