The only main difference is Xbox being run by microsoft, having been in the computing industry for so long know a bit more about the security stuff and how to spot hackers quickly
bwahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh wait you're being serious :| , I think M$ are looking for new talent for a new comedy store you should apply ;)

haha, nice one Mr_Ben.

Sorry to say it, but M$ are hit by hackers all the time. And as with most big software firms, they don't do most of their detection themselves, they rely on third party companies. In fact if you do any looking at their code & systems, M$ seem to quite frequently show that they don't know too much about security.

Its what a technology man said on the news lol

Went on my PS3 today... surprisingly it downloaded game updates without me needing to be signed into PSN. Normally it always forces me to login!

But you posted it as you said it not what someone else did...... don't try and dig upwards out of that hole it doesn't work ;) :p

oh, theres been reports on some forums of card detail list being sold in the ***,000 mark :( even thought its all encrypted im sure with the right amount of time it could be done. also believe they had inside help to show them were locations of the files where :(

This back online yet? I haven't checked since.

no mate, still down. the amount of people that are complaining and want there money back is unreal. internet companies are saying the playstations are faulty when people ring them up. its fun stuff. why cant these people read?

So what is it, like 2 weeks now. How can they "get their money back" for a service that is already free?

least you be able to claim the welcome back pack. wondering which two game sout of the 4 you'll be able to download for free...?

Is that what they are offering, free games when it's back online?

Cool, let me know bud :)

If it's free games I can't wait. Not because I want a free game I won't play, I just can't wait for the network to crash 5 minutes after being re-launched as the world tries to simultaneously download the same content

yeah, its either 1 out of two ps3 games and 2 out of 4 psp games i believe. will double check, expect it to be back online end of this month if your lucky. will dig a bit deeper in. doesnt help that they shut down their entertainment servers as well which are a different system to PSN :(. least it'll be resit up to a high standard. i do like looking at news saying how easily they got into sonys network, yet in reality if they got into one of the top 3 largest producer of electronics thats some serious hacking. cant believe the stories of sony stating it was from Anonymous as they stopped there network blocking due to it p***ing normal people off, scary to think theres another group out there that could pull this off work dire reasons

apparently, now dont quote me on this, its stuff that goes round the office but the only reason this was done is because sony were bragging about there network being almost impossible to hack and would take someone at least 5 years to get through so someone did it to prove them wrong just because they can.

me personally, i think it was someone from sony or someone theyve sacked trying to get money out of them, things like that happen all the time

I'd be interested whatever news it is. Post back once you know as I don't visit or use any gaming 'sites nor buy or read gaming mags so generally know what I'm told.

As I was reading through your first paragraph my first thought was inside job. An insider would have a massive advantage, like robbing a bank.

does seem like it as they knew where to look before they were detected ^_^ fishy fishy
pain in the arse but i trust sony encryption would hold out at least 3/4 days when the list was stolen to allow me to cancel card and order new one
