As an update to this - RUK guys have said apparently the spec has now changed back to being 195/40 r17 tyres as standard, and will definitely not be changing to 205/40 r17s as default.

205/40/17 are generally cheaper, Hollie, as they're more common.

In my opinion, 205s are far superior to 195s in every way (having had both).

Yes I thought that u would think Renault would choose that as a cost saving option lol

I suspect it's fuel economy and co2 might have played a part in that decision. I can only guess though.

I have twingo 133 renault sport with cup chassis and all extras. It came with 195/40/17 which i also could not find anywhere close or for a good price!! I changed to 205/40/17.... now im hqppy... bit better ride tooo... i say!!
