I see a lot of different views however surely there must be a definitive answer for this question, which is...

Which is faster between the 133 and GT? Obviously this is once both have been remapped and upgraded, within reason. I'm about to get my 133 remapped by Ktec I also have a ktec cat back exhaust, BMC panel filter and an upgraded cold air feed on the standard box. I just want to know once tuned too is the GT faster? I'm guessing the 133 will still have superior handing due to it being wider...

Thx

the track can be widened on the GT with superior suspension and handling. the 133 can then better that by getting rid of the horrid renault oem ''cup'' nonsense with some bilsteins. when taken care of properly, and modified the correct way...both the GT and the 133 are the best of both worlds N/A and Turbo. in a straight line, in the real world a GT with a remap, bigger injectors and a bigger fuel pump and a good exhaust and filter will leave the 133 for dead but on corners with its constant power the 133 would whip it. love them both, soo nippy and put massive smiles on your face !!!! its the eternal question but the reality is much like this forum, stronger together than apart.

There's been countless threads on this and it's always the same outcome so I imagine this will get locked and you'll be directed to the search function.

GT faster in a straight line and 133 better in the bends, but if a GT had coilovers with a FRS then the GT could be faster all around.

its the within reason part which is rather vague.

I'm looking for about 160hp from my RS. However, head and cam work isn't cheap and greater gains per pound are posible from a turboed engine. Even with that, i bet the 1.2s that have had more than just a remap would still win in a straight line as they have so much torque low down and the area under a power graph is way more important than the peak figures.

Besides that, its all been said before a few times, as theres more than one approch to a pocket rocket twingo

I-music is faster than a 197 if driven properly ;)

Mike a 197 would beat you down a hill with just the handbrake off ;)

I can't remember but hasn't this been discussed before...?

An harsh on the imusic! A 197 would at least have to get into first!!

I think replacing injectors would be considered not within reason. I know people are doing that though. I would consider within reason; exhaust, remap, cold air induction kit nothing more really.'

in which case, the likely outcome would leave simillar power outputs from the GT and the RS as proved already from GTs and RS motors wth those mods being about 130 on the same rollers... In which case, the Gt will gets the benefit of extra torque low down and the RS has the benefit of the suspension having a wider track and better brakes.

At which point, this thread becomes just like its predecesors ;)

in my experiance with mapped TCE's, even if they are even-ish during normal acceleration, once you start getting flat out in 5th the 133 pulls due to the turbo lump running out of puff at high RPM and the 133 having Revving as its strong point!, not much in it at all thoug

Once the GT has been remapped to produce 130bhp what is the fuel economy like?

mine got slightly better going from standard to i guess somewhere between 110 and 130bhp! i get around 42mpg if i take it easy, low 30's if im heavy footed everywhere

Don't agree... I can still get great economy!!
correct. what the remap does is change the fueling parameters to inject the fuel at different points on the cycle. so it will advance the spark and make the mixture slightly more rich. with the addition of the turbo to compress more air into the power stroke it means that you are actually not using much more fuel than you were before. at 140hp my GT is achieving 41mpg in grandfather driving, but with me driving it is achieving around 25-30mpg.
