yeah man, my 385bhp twin turbo s14a nissan silvia is cheaper for me to insure than a 133 and only slightly more expensive than my GT on a single policy, mad how that works eh?

Okay then tell me that a clio 182 is more expensive than a twingo with a 182 engine transplant.

Do you not read? I never said anything about a s14a or any Japanese car, just that instead of doing the engine conversion, buy the car which has the engine as standard as it makes more sense.

the thing is though chief, that it was me who brought up an example on the issue of insurance on your side and i used my silvia as an example, do you not read?. i have the 2.5 RB25 engine in s14a, as well as the fuel pump from the original skyline which the engine came from. it actually is no more expensive to insure than the standard silvia, that's because it used nissan OEM parts and not anything aftermarket other than the twin turbo's which for all intensive purposes don't exist.

Yeh you could chuck a new engine in but once you have gone through the expense of doing so your going have the double wammy of it braking down all the time. Plus too much power in the twingo and your gona start getting horrible torque steer. Your always going to be cheaper buying the car that has the engine in it already rather then modifying it to suit it. However if you have the money and you would like a project... Why not hey!!

well said man, that's why the megane and cars like the leon FR+ etc sit around the 250 mark which is sitting on the borderline of what a FWD car can transfer to the road in traction before the wheels spin.

The car as standard is quick enough for most ppl but i want more like most ppl here :) a 2ltr engine

Rob threw in the idea on a 2ltr conversion, putting 2 and 2 together that's a 182 F4R.

Now I'll stop at that as re reading through this thread going off topic and the way some people post has made me check I didn't accidently post on cliosport!

RS' are about balance. The 133 may seem under powered to some but for a standard car it is incredibly well balanced. I'm sure yotah will say the same.

I wanted more power so I bought a Clio 197, personally I prefer NA cars so this is for me the peak of the RS range. It was far simpler than dicking about with engine swaps etc, into a car that was never meant to handle that power. I can understand mods even getting to head work & cams etc, but that's we're the point for reason stops for me. Want a quicker car, get a quicker car.

I had a megane 1.9dci 130, that was at 180bhp and 310lbs, very quick in a straight line but all I ended up with was a car that couldn't take the extra power. Torque steered like a ****, planting your foot at 50mph in 4th would see it attempt to jump two lanes of the motorway. It ate clutches and drive shafts. Bloody nightmare, the car was far more fun before I started buggering about with it. To think I was in the process of a turbo swap and a inter cooler change. As quick as it was it was still just a megane....

133 for a fairly complete out of the box package, with styling extras

GT if you want to mod a car, possibly make a 'faster than a RS' for possibly very little money, but will have to put the effort in.

Thread locked?

I have no problems with modding the car as long as it all stays within its limits.

To be honest, I think the Twingo RS chassis feels like it can handel more power than 130 bhp it has.. but then again. Renault Sport is not know for making cars that have an awesome amount of horsepower but rather on a nice balance between performance/chassis that usually ends up more efficiently.

Im not ready yet but end of next year i should be. I love my cup, its finally a car thats brought a smile back to my face after i sold my skyline. The car as standard is quick enough for most ppl but i want more like most ppl here :) a 2ltr engine might be too big? But what ever i do i plan for over 200bhp minimum and a turbo!
a low boost turbo or supercharger should get 180 from an otherwise stock K4M. Forged rods may be needed above that, as other turbo conversions have bent rods above 200. Less hastle with getting things to fit and work.

However, like my head and cams mods, its not in the same context as a simple filter and remap which was the comparison point at the start of the thread

If the GT was the better car then Renault wouldnt of made the RS. End of. Its a better car all round. Looks, handling, power, spec everything.

Even the GT owners that move to an RS say it.

Off topic i know but any reason why you went to the length of twin turbo'ing an RB25??

needed a smoother uptake and it gives me a more consistent and controllable throttle, when the smaller turbo starts to spool down the bigger turbo is already on the power from 2nd through to 5th although i don't drive her too much in higher gears. you're welcome to come for a little bit of food one day and have a snoop martin! take her a spin if you're comprehensive and over 25 lol

i see, just curious as it wasnt a very common done mod. good work though! yeah you should bring it to a meet one day for us all to have a snoop!

Noooo I like the argument that gt > 133 cos of some 'tuned' jap car
