Ironic. :)

Thing is it's all down to balance. The BMW 325to I had was more prone to understeer than the twingo, this of course changes of you get things proper out of shape.

Did end up arse about face once in the rain, on a corner that the twingo would of just cocked a wheel

The new shape Honda civic is worse looking than a 1 series.
Yes honda's are reliable but that's only there v tec units.
BMW diesel are great very smooth power unlike vag diesel which are just wam bam thank you mam.
The 1 series chassis is very good. Once you get used to rwd and there is a huge difference in the rain lol.
But the whole idea of buying a diesel is to save money when doing big miles if not buy the 135 I and have that mapped.

Rob have a look on babybmw for info on the 1 series. The 118d is a good engine it's the injectors that limit it's performance. But it's still capable of pushing out 185 bhp when mapped which for a car with 30 quid a year road tax is good.

hey mate, im already on babybmw talking to the guys on there, defo going for either the 118d or 120d (can't decide yet!)

If you are gonna consider a remap at some stage then defo go for the 118d. Just for the cost of running.
If your gonna go for a hatch back model 3 or 5 door which ever one you go for make sure it's m sport.

mmm true... would the 118D with a remap pretty much match the 120d?

the hatch would be 3 door and would defo be an m sport
the coupe would also be an m sport

both probably the 118D engine after speaking to you

the convertible is out due to cost and me realising that on the motorway i would really use it with the roof down all that much!

Don't get me wrong if money wasn't the issue I'd go for the 123 d, but we live in a real world. The 120d is a more refind engine and will be smoother but don't be put of the 118d is still smooth and quick it just will not feel it.
It's the cost of tax and savings on fuel over the milage your doing which is the real world winner. Defo go for the re map, will at p torque is the man to see.

That new style 1 series is genuinely ugly in a bad way. I like cars that are a bit ugly but with character, that is ugly and has no charm to it at all. Personally though, I think the 1 series hatch is an ugly car that I'm convinced only sells because of the badge.

Coupe all the way I reckon as it looks like a modern version of the previous 3 series.

The convertible version is a bit posey for me, for me if it was a convertible it'd have to be a 130 or 135. Go to match the show. :)

I'd go for the coupe too, not a huge fan of the hatch!

As long as its not the new one, that looks bloody awful! As do all the new styple BMWs imo
